Welcome to The Daily Quote—a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for February 5th.
Now, hold your breath—because today we have a truly fragrant occasion... National Fart Day! That’s right—an entire day dedicated to nature’s little air horns. Whether you find them hilarious, horrifying, or something in between, there’s no denying that farts are a universal experience. Everyone does it. Some people try and control it and others... embrace the dark side of the fart.
Whether you call it breaking wind, passing gas, floating an air biscuit or "stepping on a duck," farts have been making people laugh (or gag) since the dawn of time.
So, today’s quote comes from the one and only Will Rogers, who once said:
"Everything is funny, as long as it is happening to somebody else."
And let’s be real—this perfectly applies to farts. When you let one slip in a quiet room? Pure horror. But when someone else does? Comedy gold. It’s a universal truth: bodily mishaps are always funniest when you’re not the one responsible.
But there’s a deeper lesson here—beyond the immature giggles. Life is full of awkward, embarrassing moments. And while it’s easy to laugh at someone else’s misfortune, it’s important to remember that, at some point, you’re going to be the one caught off guard. So why not learn to laugh at yourself, too? Embrace the humor in life’s little accidents, whether it’s a mistimed joke, a bad hair day, or, yes, a surprise fart.
And pro tip - If your friend accidentally lets one rip and is completely embarrassed and horrified.. Help your buddy out by squeezing out one of your own. It will get your friend off the hook and bonus points if it is louder and funnier sounding too.
So today, celebrate National Fart Day with a light heart and maybe keep a little distance from others. Some people might be taking this day a little too seriously.
And remember—what’s embarrassing today might just be hilarious tomorrow.
That’s it for today! Thanks for listening and I'll see you tomorrow, same pod time, same pod station for another Daily Quote.
