ASHWIN: THE RETIREMENT STORY

Ravichandran Ashwin shocked cricket fans in India and the world by announcing his retirement from International cricket on December 18, 2024. He played for almost 15 long years for the country and has distinguished Indian cricket. He was a quality off-spinner who claimed 537 test wickets. Batting was his first love before he turned to develop as an off-spinner. He has to his name six test centuries, which is no mean achievement at all. He also served the country with distinction in the One Day Internationals and T-20 formats. But his sudden retirement mid-way through the ongoing test series between India and Australia has raised many eyebrows.
