Wisdom Through Bitcoin:S1E6: How to Self Custody Bitcoin to secure your wealth w/ Tyler Campbell

While Altcoin exchanges and crypto hedge funds like 3 Arrows Capital, Alameda Capital, Celsius, Voyager, Blockfi, Genesis, and many others are blowing up all over the industry, people with their Bitcoin in self custody are sitting back and watching the fireworks.  If you are interested in learning more about how to self custody your Bitcoin and how it can help you secure your financial future, then this episode is for you.  Tyler is an amazing resource in the Bitcoin space and has helped 100's of people secure their Bitcoin safely and easily.  There is a very important saying in Bitcoin, "Not your keys, Not your Bitcoin."  Tyler helps us understand why this simple concept can product your financial future and help you become a more self sovereign individual.   Tyler works for Unchained Capital. One of the premier Bitcoin only companies it the space.  They specialize in helping people just like you secure your Bitcoin for savings and daily use.  His current position is the VP of Concierge. His background working for a blockchain company helped him learn about Bitcoin and the ins and outs of the protocol.  But even he will tell you, "It's Bitcoin not Blockchain."  And it's "Bitcoin not Crypto."   Our conversation covers everything from what is the difference between cold storage wallet and hot wallets to understanding the importance of controlling your private keys and passing on Bitcoin to your heirs.  I really enjoyed talking with Tyler and I learned a lot about self custody.  I hope you enjoy our conversation and get a lot of good usable information out of it.   Most people that begin buying Bitcoin go through the same evolutionary process that ultimately leads to self custody.  That journey looks something like this:  1. Decide you want to own Bitcoin.  2. Settle on an exchange you want to buy it from.  3. Buy Bitcoin.  4. Leave Bitcoin on an exchange then realize it's not safe there.  5. Send Bitcoin to a "Hot Wallet," then realize it's not totally save their either.  6. Send Bitcoin to a "Cold Storage Wallet."  7. Set up advanced security for your Bitcoin through Multisig  8. Dollar Cost Average (DCA) into a larger position of Bitcoin  9. Help others learn what you've learned  10. Sit back and relax knowing your Bitcoin is safe from theft or loss.   Thank you so much Tyler for coming on the show and sharing your wisdom with me and the audience.  You are doing Satoshi's work and it is obvious how passionate you are about Bitcoin and educating others.   If you liked the show please remember to click the "like" button, "Share" and "Subscribe" to the Podcast.  You can also find the show on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.   Show Notes: Tyler is the author of may Bitcoin Articles.   Find some of them here. https://unchained.com/blog/author/tyl...  Get in touch with Tyler on Twitter  @clockwork_prior   Learn more about Unchained Capital  Unchained.com   Follow Chris Bobay on Twitter  @CSBobay

Wisdom Through Bitcoin:S1E5:The Money Is Already Digital Bitcoin Is Inevitable with Peter Ansell

"We the United States are mining the resources of the world and giving them effectively worthless pieces of paper for it.  And that was the moment I realized that Bitcoin is going to be the single greatest transfer of wealth the world...humanity has ever seen."   Peter Ansell is a young Boomer that has been lucky enough to retire before the age of 60.  His interest in technology at an early age helped him invest/save his way through several financial calamities throughout the years (1989, 1997, 2001 & 2008).  His passion to understand how money works outside the United States and the effects of US Dollar denominated inflation has on those populations is a driving force in his quest for knowledge on a solution and ultimately Bitcoin.   We also touch on the challenges of discussing Bitcoin with friends and family that don't think about the living standards of "the rest of the world."  To most in the US, Bitcoin currently isn't a necessity in storing value and combatting high inflation rates.  It is more of a speculative "thing" that people day trade if they have extra money... Similar to gambling.  Peter and I look at the value proposition of Bitcoin and comment on peoples lack of knowledge around money and its key characteristics.    He has a great way to help entice his friends to own Bitcoin.  All they have to do is get a hardware wallet and set it up, then he will transfer them free Bitcoin.  Sounds like a no brainer right?  Crazy thing is, none of his friends or family have taken him up on it!    We had a great conversation about buying Bitcoin on exchanges and securing in on a hardware wallet.  It's easier than you'd think. Plus a personal story of how I lost some Bitcoin and was able to recover it using my private key words.  The system really work and everyone around the world should learn about Bitcoin and the immense opportunity it provides.     Peter and I hope you enjoy the conversation.   Please help us teach others about Bitcoin by clicking the "like" button below, Leaving a comment, and hitting the "subscribe" button.  It really does help the algorithm show the episode to more people.    Show Notes:  Follow Peter on Twitter @peteransel9  Follow Me on Twitter @CSBobay & @bitcoin4kiddos  Great Bitcoin educational resources Twitter Spaces:   Cafe Bitcoin by Swan Bitcoin 7am-9am PST M-F  Toxic Happy Hour by @publordhodl 11am-1pm PST M-F   Companies we talked about:  Ledger (Hardware Wallet)  Trezor (Hardware Wallet)  Coldcard (Coinkite)(Hardware Wallet) Swan Bitcoin (Exchange)  Coinbase (Exchange)  Strike (Bitcoin Exchange)  Use Referral Code and get $5: strike.me/bitcoin4kiddos  Fold Card (Debit Card- Free Bitcoin) Use Referral Code and get 5,000 Sats for joining: use.foldapp.com/r/T3C7UFYU  Umbrel (Node)   This show and all of our shows are available on YouTube, Spotify & Apple Podcast

Wisdom Through Bitcoin Podcast:S1E2: The Every Day Joe has a voice in Bitcoin with Chris Coffee

In this episode I talk with Chris Coffee.  An outspoken man that has seen all walks of life and still believes Bitcoin is the answer to generational wealth.  We discuss his younger years in the streets of Brooklyn and how he learned to keep his head down and hustle (a skill taught by his father) to make a better life for his family.  A self-made man that in his early years didn't worry much about retirement.  Only to realize in his mid 50's that he didn't want to work forever but hadn't saved nearly enough.   In 2017, he discovered Cryptocurrency through a friend and quickly fell down the Rabbit Hole only to see his quick gains turn to losses by year end.  Starting in 2018 he began putting in the real work and learning everything he could about the cryptocurrency industry.  Didn't take him long before he realized Bitcoin was the only true digital asset in existence and began Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) into a nice nest egg for himself and family.  Since then, he's helped countless friends and family get their start in Bitcoin including helping a friend send money to family in Russia.   This was a fun conversation that included many topics.  I hope you enjoy the show.  Please subscribe to our page and hit the "like" button to help the show grow.  Chris also spent some time talking about his thoughts on Ross Ulbricht.   Show Notes and Resources:   Book Resource:  The Bitcoin Standard by Saifadean Ammous   For more information on Ross Ulbricht- FreeRoss.org    Best way to earn free Bitcoin is with the Fold Card.  Check it out here and get Free Satoshi's for signing up using this link and get 20,000 Sats.  Fold Card Referral Link - use.foldapp.com/r/T3C7UFYU   Follow Chris Coffee on Twitter @ChrisCoffeeHF  Follow Me on Twitter @CSBobay & @Bitcoinforkiddos   Looking for fun Bitcoin Books?  Check us out at: BTCPublish.com  Looking for a great place to buy Bitcoin?  Check out Coinbits.app
