Women on the Verge of a Financial Breakthrough
Are you embarrassed and ashamed of how much you don’t know about finance and investing? Do you break into a sweat when you hear words like “investment portfolio”, “retirement savings” or “financial planning”? You’re in good company. Here at Women on the Verge of a Financial Breakthrough, we’re figuring out finance, one dumb question at a time. Caitlin, the dummy, asks Sara, the expert, very basic questions about terms, systems and strategies women can use to plan their financial futures. Think of it as the “Investing for Beginners” party you didn’t even want to be invited to, but ended up having fun at anyway. Leave your shame and embarrassment at the door - you, too, can be a woman on the verge of a financial breakthrough!
A Safe Space to Open the Quarterly Statement You’re Afraid of, in the Form of a Podcast

I really, really, like this podcast. Caitlin is exceptionally good at identifying financial terms and topics (mutual funds, bonds, inflation) that could be glossed over but really need to be unpacked. And Sara is so clear and deliberate in how she breaks down all of her expertise (from ibonds, to the bear market, to how to save for college). Both are really good about anticipating and acknowledging the obstacles/fears/anxieties people (especially women!) have to fully understanding and taking control of their financial situations- and Caitlin’s own (extremely relatable) experiences in this regard actually propel the conversations much of the time. As a solo parent (100% financially independent and 100% in charge of my adorable dependent), I also find the content to be extremely inclusive. Since I’ve started listening, I’ve found the information enlightening and affirming and I feel more well-equipped to discuss my finances and make decisions about them. I also have made a few little adjustments to where I’m keeping my money- on the surface those changes are SO commonsensical, but I needed this podcast to give me the confidence (permission? awareness?) to do it. The back and forth between the two hosts is warm, entertaining, helpful and so exciting that I can’t listen to this too close to when I sleep because I find it too stimulating (that’s a good thing)! I also want to give a shout out to Kacie, who is a guest sometimes- I think she is funny and knowledgeable and brilliant! Highly recommend!
Giving me more financial confidence

This show is giving me more financial confidence. I appreciate how the hosts will clarify the situation and responses multiple ways and from layperson understandings. Many financial lessons will build on past ones so it honestly feels good when I understand what they are talking about. I also can identify with Caitlin, who is the layperson learner, she doesn’t have thousands to invest so she gets excited about reasonable investment amounts.
Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge!

I’ve been going to in-person Austin Women Investing Group events where I learned about this podcast. Caitlin, Kacie, and Sara are great hosts and they make finance knowledge easy to understand. The podcast gives me knowledge about the things I thought I knew already. Hope there will be more guests with other areas of expertise and more intermediate level topics. If you haven’t been to Austin Women Investing Group events, you can find the recordings on YouTube!
They’re back!

I was so excited to see they were back with a new episode I sent a screen shot to my sister with the caption Best Day Ever! This is such a great podcast to take what seems like confusing advice or information and make it easy for the everyday person to understand. Plus they are just fun to listen to. Can we be friends? I’ve recommended them to all my friends to listen to. I can’t wait to see what the future episodes feature this season.
