The Ice Skating Podcast

Welcome to the latest episode of The Ice Skating Podcast – with a huge amount to talk about across all three disciplines!

We are joined by skating commentator (and star of Dancing on Ice), Mark Hanretty, to discuss all the highlights of Montpellier 2022.

From the homeland heroes, Guillaume Cizeron and Gabriella Papadakis in the ice dance, through to the remarkable Japanese performances in the individual events, Mark has got plenty to say about a highly enjoyable week of action.

In Speed Skating, we are looking back on the ISU World Speed Skating Championships in Hamar and the ISU World Cup in Heerenveen – with remarkable achievements from Nils van der Poel and Irene Schouten. We have interviews with them both.

There is an exclusive interview with Ukrainian Short Track skater Mariya Dolgopolova, who reveals how she fled her home, under fire Kharkiv, at the start of the Russian invasion, and hopes to keep the Ukrainian flag flying through her sport over the next few weeks.

Finally, we are previewing the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Montreal, which start on April 8. We have an exclusive interview with Canadian star John Pierre-Gilles, fresh from winning a gold medal at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

The Ice Skating Podcast is the official pod of the International Skating Union, hosted by Luke Norman and Nick Moore.
