Opioids and Health Equity

CME available. Dr. Nathan Schlicher chats with Rae Wright, MD, an addiction medicine physician in Vancouver, Washington. Dr. Wright will delve into what equity in health care looks like, and how addiction/OUD interfaces with equity issues (i.e., pain management, the justice system, and access to care).

Learning objectives:

• Identify how health equity impacts patients’ access to treatment for OUD.
• Describe ways to improve access to OUD treatment for marginalized patients.
• Identify barriers to treatment access that relate to race, ethnicity, and LGBTQI communities.
• Recall the goals of National Institute on drug abuse (NIDA) racial equity initiative.
