The Mystical City of God in a Year with Fr. Edward Looney

Thank you so much Fr. Looney for providing this podcast! I cannot imagine reading this book all the way through myself. It would be so easy to get discouraged by its length (and in places, by its complexity or challenges). Having it broken into 15-20 minute segments, along with commentary and reflections, made it something I could look forward to progressing through. I first heard about The Mystical City Of God while on a plane flight. The passenger next to me was a Jumano Indian going to the Vatican, hoping to advance the case for the Venerable Maria of Agreda’s beatification. I do not know how his time at the Vatican turned out, but I am glad for our chance encounter on the airplane. The size of the book looked intimidating, but I wanted to know more from what he told me. My own priest confirmed for me that it is an excellent book he had read in seminary. I looked for an audiobook, and was so glad to find this podcast instead. The book and podcast are at times fascinating, at times difficult or discouraging (it definitely makes me aware of my own failings), and also uplifting (knowing that God desperately wants us and Mary desperately prays for us). I recommend it, and thank you again Fr. Looney.
