City Cast Las Vegas is a daily podcast and newsletter created by and for locals (and locals-at-heart) that’ll challenge the easy narratives about our city … and, okay, maybe confirm a few of them, too. Las Vegas is a city of reinvention, bursting at the seams as it welcomes newcomers into its various incarnations as a service-worker union town, a military town, a college town, and, most recently, a sports town.
There’s a four-mile street testifying to our entrepreneurial genius, not far from pockets of staggering inequality. Great wealth runs through our city, but how much of that actually stays in Vegas? We’re independent in spirit, but also ruled by orange traffic cones. Our 2.5 million residents anchor an ever-changing city of 42 million visitors.
Join us every morning for the messy, delightful, complicated conversations that Las Vegans are having: You’ll hear us ask hard questions about where we’ll get our water when Lake Mead runs out, and how we’ll keep housing affordable. We’ll argue over our favorite Chinatown bars, and share insider tips on the best tacos in town. You’ve probably heard a story about Congresswoman Lauren Boebert. Like, how she got kicked out of a production of “Beetlejuice” for vaping and groping her date. Or, that time she heckled President Biden during his State of the Union address. Throughout it all, she keeps winning elections and amassing followers, so it’s hard not to watch her meteoric rise and wonder: What does it mean for the future of American Politics?
Host Bree Davies and Executive Producer Paul Karolyi have been covering Boebert’s wildest moments on City Cast Denver for years. And with only a month until her make-or-break primary on June 25, they’re talking to former friends and rivals, supporters and detractors, real people throughout Colorado who have been affected by her work in Congress, and hopefully Lauren herself.

Now, local business owners are leading the charge to try and hold F1 and the county accountable for financial losses caused by the event and construction: The owner of Ellis Island is the first to file an actual lawsuit, but more businesses are expected to follow. Also, a controversial campaign ad triggers an ethics complaint for the district attorney, and an art exhibit focuses on the Goodmans' legacy. Co-hosts Sarah Lohman and Dayvid Figler are joined by artist and writer Vogue Robinson to break down this week’s headlines.

Why the Aces' Big New Sponsorship is Under Investigation
On Friday, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announced an unprecedented new sponsorship program: $100k to each of the Las Vegas Aces players, from superstars to rookies. I never miss this podcast — great news, issues, guests, opinions, trivia guessing games, etc. I live in Florida and many of your topics are generalizable beyond Vegas (e.g., how to revamp consequences for administrative traffic stops; neighborhoods taking responsibility for each other by putting food for the taking out in their yards; Biden admin preserving Avi Kwa Ame as a National Monument; etc.) Thank you to all of you for making my days so much happier, smarter, and brighter!
Local & Quick
Interesting topics ranging from entirely local to nationally relevant w/ a touch of Vegas. Also, the 20 min episodes make it the perfect commuter listen. Like a morning / afternoon drive radio show, but only the great commentary. Only critique, if I have to have one, is some conversations are one-sided between guests and host perspective. Would prefer a little more neutrality from hosts or adding another guest for diversity of opinions. Regardless, it’s always a fun listen and a podcast I recommend to locals in So. Nevada.

I recently moved to the Las Vegas area and am really enjoying using this podcast to get to know my new city. The hosts have great food and entertainment recommendations, as well as thorough coverage of local news stories.
