    *It’s Cherry, It’s Cherry Red*

We’re back on the albums again! Part TWENTY, 110-101. - WE HAVE LISTENED TO AND TALKED THROUGH OVER 200 ALBUMS since June!! OH MY WORD. - This week features Sleater-Kinney, J Dilla, Paul & Linda McCartney, and seven other artists to continue this massive undertaking. Hmm, who else could there be? ;) - When do we EVER have time for Poetry Time on Albums eps anymore? Here’s the written version for you: - Today’s Poetry Time ____________________________________________________ Softest of Mornings Softest of mornings, hello. And what will you do today, I wonder, to my heart? And how much honey can the heart stand, I wonder, before it must break? This is trivial, or nothing: a snail climbing a trellis of leaves and the blue trumpets of its flowers. No doubt clocks are ticking loudly all over the world. I don't hear them. The snail's pale horns extend and waive this way and that as her finger-body shuffles forward, leaving behind the silvery path of her slime. Oh, softest of mornings, how shall I break this? How shall I move away from the snail, and the flowers? How shall I go on, with my introspective and ambitious life? -by Mary Oliver ____________________________________________________ I chose this poem for multiple reasons: This is a very special episode, so I wanted to grace it with my favorite poet. Also, this episode marks a milestone and I am thrilled to get to continue my “introspective and ambitious life,” both musically and in general. Also it’s just plain beautiful and with this being a Friday, perhaps you have the opportunity for some quiet mornings in the days ahead - ONLY 100 ALBUMS TO GO!!! Aw. (It occurred to me last week that I’m really going to miss this project once we’re through.) Onward and upward we go. - Oh it’s a major endeavor, alright. I’m going to try to listen to at least 10 albums a week for the rest of the year! Yeah, I’m not joking. Media, art, and entertainment publication Paste Magazine came out with a list of the 300 best albums and we’re going to go through them all! Well, I’m going to. And then we’re going to talk about it! Great tracks, themes, history, info, related artists, cultural context, personal experiences- they’re all going to play a part in these reviews. Totally stoked because I love music. (And a little intimidated! Because this is a lot to process) - If we keep up with an episode per week featuring 10 albums each, we’ll just about finish by the end of 2024. - What an episode! I’m so grateful to be here with you. Hope you have an amazing weekend! Stay safe and warm- I’ll see you Monday, C :) - Audio clip credit to the Grammy Museum via Sleater-Kinney IG.

*When You Free Your Eyes Eternal Prize*

We’re back on the albums again! Part Nineteen, 120-111. - This week features The Jimi Hendrix Experience, System of a Down, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and seven other artists to continue this massive undertaking. Hmm, who else could there be? ;) - I forgot to tell you which album the Lyric Title came from during the show! Whoops. By the time we got to that point, I was so enveloped in the stories of these songs and albums and artists that I wasn’t even thinking abut the title anymore lol I won’t spoil the album reveal by telling you outright here, but I will say the artist is mentioned above, and the song that contains the lyric is mentioned during the episode as a part of a beloved trilogy. (If that’s too ambiguous for you, you could also just Google the title and the song/album will most likely show up.) - When do we ever have time for Poetry Time on Albums eps anymore? Here’s the written version for you: - Today’s Poetry Time ________________________________ Mother I never knew, every time I see the ocean, every time—— -by Kobayashi Issa ________________________________ - Oh it’s a major endeavor, alright.
