Trading likability for undeniability with Candice Brathwaite

Trading likability for undeniability with Candice Brathwaite

Candice Brathwaite is an absolute force to be reckoned and utterly brilliant in every way! If you’ve not read her books you will have cackled at her podcast Closet Confessions, or gazed for hours at her endless style and big sister chats on instagram. Her early career was centred around being likable and fitting a mould, until a very public trolling scandal made her reassess how she would show up moving forward - the less she focused on being liked, the more she realised how much she had been hiding her true self. Even after years of success, she is just now exiting her season of doubt.
Tune into episode 7 of Listen Loudly to hear my conversation with podcaster, presenter, author, and all-round baddie Candice Brathwaite. Prepare to laugh, cry and take ALL the notes - the lessons flow non-stop, you’ll have to pause, rewind, note-take and keep it moving!
    In this episode, you’ll learn:
How following her gut has paid off for Candice (05:37)Why you can’t let the internet rush you (09:54)How Candice dealt with online trolling from a popular mommy blogger (12:36)The importance of recommitting to exercise (32:34)Sometimes, the most important thing is just showing up to the best of your ability (40:20)

Choosing yourself and your sense of belonging with Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts

Choosing yourself and your sense of belonging with Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts

The root and messaging of, not belonging, can take a swift hold on us -  messaging from others/society becomes internalised and part of who we perceive ourselves to be in the world.  It took some time for Chelsea to feel a sense of belonging in the yoga world, but as she redefined who she was in the space, along with her teaching, she kicked open doors for others.  Chelsea believes this can expand into uniting communities.
Tune into episode 5 of Listen Loudly to hear my conversation with my friend and fellow Peloton yoga instructor Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts.  Chelsea leans into the basics in her teaching to build solid foundations and a reconnection to self.  She is highly regarded as a leader in a new generation of yogis who are striving to expand the idea of who is traditionally thought of as a teacher.
Today, you’ll hear about Chelsea’s journey from elementary school teacher to world renowned yoga instructor. Tune in and hear how her university experience instilled a sense of leadership in her, why she believes in meeting people where they are at, and how her experience with yoga finally made her feel grounded, present, and at ease.
    In this episode, you’ll learn:
Chelsea originally felt that yoga was inaccessible to her (03:19)Chelsea’s comfort with yoga didn’t come overnight (07:14)The loss of her best friend completely changed Chelsea’s relationship to yoga (08:00)Yoga can be an excellent way to keep your personal battery charged (13:34)Yoga was designed for us to understand who we truly are (15:38)Chelsea tries to keep her classes and practice accessible to everyone (22:33)
