Advice to My Daughter Podcast

We are Mary Beth and Katie, a mother daughter duo. We have completely opposite childhood experiences. I always wondered why my mom was such a fighter, when I was so shy. Throughout my teaching career I have learned a lot about childhood experiences that shape students and I saw the connection to my mom. We want to share experiences, mistakes, and our lives with you. We have learned to laugh at ourselves a lot, you will too. My mom stopped the cycle with her family. Her childhood didn’t affect mine, although it added color and excitement. Welcome to our lives.

    Value Your Damn Self

    If you don’t value yourself, your daughter won’t value herself. Your children learn from your actions not your words. No child will believe they can be anything they dream of their mother doesn’t believe she can be anything she dreams. So get out there and live for you as well as your kids.     When i became a mom, I always worried if i was doing it right. I worried if my mom thought I was doing things correctly. I wanted to discuss this with my own mom since my kids are older. I got out of my own head I figured my own mom went through it when she was young. So what is the secret to parenting? News flash there isn’t one. Parenting is learning as you go. What works for one person doesn’t work for the other. Give yourself grace. Realize no one has it figured out. Stop worrying about judgement. Find your own happiness and your kids will learn how to find their happiness.
