On this week’s episode of About Damn Crime, Ellyn kicks things off with an update on Robert Roberson, a 57-year-old man who has been on death row for the death of his 2-year-old daughter, Nikki Curtis. However, all of that may have changed last week in an unprecedented halting of his execution. Then, continuing their discussion of the death penalty, in an extremely different circumstance, Rabia discusses Kirkland Warren who was arrested for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Meshay Melendez, and her daughter, Layla Stewart. We then turn the corner and Ellyn discusses a case making waves on social media right now as a woman and her husband claim she is serving a 41-month-sentence in federal prison for “speaking her religious truth.” The reality of what happened, however, is far different from what they’ve chosen to disclose on social media. Finally, we are joined by our very special Petitioner this week, Erin Rempe. Erin discusses the Iowa Attorney General recently launching a Cold Case division, followed by the cold case of Ashley Okland, a realtor who was murdered at an open house in West Des Moines, IA.
