Ep.54 - Is Financial Independence Achievable?

The supporting blog post for this podcast episode is available on our website: Is Financial Independence Achievable? (wewillnomad.com) Although we usually only talk about money in relation to travel (i.e. insurance, budgets, cost of travel, etc) we often get asked how we can afford to travel full time and what it took to get to this point? The truth is that it took us years of planning, lots of hard work, many sacrifices and an ongoing commitment towards a shared passion and goal. Although we are able to sustain our current lifestyle through passive income, we remain incredibly aware and frugal in our spending.  The good news is that accumulating wealth has a lot less to do with how much you earn than most people assume. Reaching financial independence has more to do with your spending than your earning and in this podcast episode we discuss how to get there. Ep.50 - Lessons from a Year of Nomad Life

In this episode, we look back at  2019, the first calendar year we were fully nomadic and spent travelling across Asia. We visited 8 countries, slept in 50 different beds and took numerous flights, trains, busses and boats during this year! Currently, in stark contrast, we still find ourselves stuck in the worldwide COVID-19 lockdown after almost an entire year, so we enjoy reflecting on our 2019 travels. Quick summary of our year. How we choose our next destination and the cool new tool we created to do this (https://www.wewillnomad.com/where-to-travel-next). How we deal with money and tracking expenses while travelling. Packing for full-time travel: Items we should have packed but didn't & items we ditched along the way. Social media and how it influences travel. Technology and our best travel apps. Our pace of travel, actual vs preferred. Keeping fit on the road. Some First Time Experiences. What we learnt from our first year as full-time nomads. Ep.49 - Where To Travel Next in 2021 - How to Find Your Next Travel Destination!

Are you struggling to find inspiration for your next travel destination? Perhaps it's as simple as finding an affordable holiday nearby where you will have good weather and you do not need a visa to visit?  What is this Where-To-Travel-Next thing? It is the worlds most flexible travel destination search tool We've gathered tons of information and track data on each destination at country level. You tell us where you're from and we provide your options for visa-free destinations. You filter your options by the current travel advisory levels, preferred region, and you can even exclude destinations which may pose certain major health risks. We have now added estimated flight costs to every destination as well as the option to filter destinations by your preferred travel budget. Our latest addition to the filter is Covid-19 travel restrictions per country - updated weekly. (You will find more info in this blog post.) The best part of the tool shows once you choose your month of travel as you can then exclude destinations where it is too hot, too cold, too wet or too busy to your liking. Perhaps you're looking for a destination to kite-surf, hike, cycle, ski or even just good beach weather - outside of the main tourist seasons?  Every destination has it's own dedicated country page where you will find loads more information to help you make the best choice.  Our goal is to help you find the perfect destination, to travel the world and have amazing adventures.  Read more on the Where-To-Travel-Next Destination Filter Tool on our webpage: https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/where-to-travel ABOUT US: Full-time nomads and experienced budget travellers. We're happy you have found us and look forward to sharing destination advice, tips, and travel guides with you from around the world to help you make the most out of every travel experience. Ep.48 - Mt. Bromo & Kawah Ijen - Highlights of Java, Indonesia (Budget Travel Guide)

Mount Bromo is probably Indonesia’s most famous active volcano and sits at the Eastern end of Java between Surabaya and Yogyakarta. It's part of the Tengger massif and in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.  Kawah Ijen. A beast of a volcano, just shy of 3000 meters, will leave you gasping. Not only for air but also for a truly unique experience. It's home to the largest acidic lake in the world measuring only 0.7ph (with battery acid being 1ph!). Java is only the fourth largest island in Indonesia but contains more than half of the nation’s population and dominates it politically and economically. The capital of Java and of the country is Jakarta (formerly Batavia), which is also Indonesia’s largest city. If you're looking for inspiration on what to see and do in Java, you've come to the right place! In this episode, we dive deep into how to go about visiting the famous volcanoes of Java: 1. When were we there and for how long; 2. Our reason for going; 3. Highlight or standout experience; 4. Transport around; 5. Challenges; 6. Budget; 7. Overall impression; For more on Java you should have a look at the following articles on our blog: https://www.wewillnomad.com/indonesia-travel-guide https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/24-hours-in-jakarta https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/yogyakarta-walking-tour https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/prambanan-temple-tour-yogyakarta https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/how-to-visit-borobudur-temple-yogyakarta https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/5-reasons-to-visit-solo-indonesia https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/mount-bromo-what-you-need-to-know https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/blue-flames-of-kawa-ijen ABOUT US: Hi! Ep.47 - Yogyakarta City, Indonesia (Budget Travel Guide)

We weren’t quite prepared for how much we would love Yogyakarta and somewhat regret spending only a few days there. Nevertheless, we made the most of our time and now have a place we would like to revisit on our return to Indonesia! Yogyakarta - often called simply ‘Jogja’ (Y’s are pronounced like J’s in Bahasa), shares the name of the capital city of Jakarta yet they could not be more different! Jakarta has over nine million people in its hazy underbelly – interspersed with skyscraper malls and some of the most congested traffic you will find anywhere in the world. While Jogja retains a calmer soul, is culturally rich in ancient Javanese arts and home to less than half a million inhabitants. Yogyakarta today is home to the nation’s most prestigious university, a well-established art & music scene and picturesque landscape. As Yogyakarta is synonymous with both Prambanan and Borobudur Temples we include our experience and recommendations on both these magnificent temples.  In this episode we discuss: 1. When were we in Yogyakarta and for how long; 2. Prambanan Temple  3. Borobudur Temple  4. Highlight and standout experience; 5. What the weather is like; 6. Food; 7. Must-See & Do ; 8. Transport and getting around; 9. Budget; 10. Overall impression; For more on Java you should have a look at the following articles on our blog: https://www.wewillnomad.com/indonesia-travel-guide https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/yogyakarta-walking-tour https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/prambanan-temple-tour-yogyakarta https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/how-to-visit-borobudur-temple-yogyakarta https://www.wewillnomad.com/post/5-reasons-to-visit-solo-indonesia ABOUT US: Hi!
