Chapter 1 - Dampened Spirits
Every relationship is constantly changing. Even when it appears to be ordinary and predictable, there is movement beneath the familiar. Nothing ever stays the same. However, in the midst of the day-to-day routine, there are those undeniable moments of significance that represent major turning points—where the relationship is fundamentally shifted and redefined. New. The connection can be either weakened or strengthened at those times—it's our choice. Usually, once we pass such a threshold of change, a shift of perspective, there is little to no turning back. This story and song represent such a moment in our 50 years of partnership together. Fortunately, it was a time of strengthening, building, clarification and recommitment around an even brighter, more promising future. There are few things more fulfilling than to realize that you have made it through—together. The song says: "As the years pass we have come to know, when we are together days hold uncommon promise."
