Amelia Adams on Being a Target at Trump Rallies and Facing Trolls as a Working Mum
Amelia Adams is a Senior US Correspondent with Nine Network Australia. It's a big job any time, but especially in our current media climate.
In 2020 three big stories -- the US election, social justice protests and COVID-19 -- converged in what was one of the most challenging and demanding news years in modern history. Amelia was on the ground in the US covering them all.
In our chat Amelia talks about being a target at Trump rallies but also on social media where she’s been trolled for simply doing her job as a working mum. We talk about the ridiculous questions she and her husband were asked when it was announced Nine was sending her to its London bureau - the first mum to do so - something that shouldn’t be a big deal, but it was.
And how Amelia now feels a deep sense of calm during live breaking news - after a few early mishaps - including an on-air meltdown while covering Prince William’s royal tour.
