338. ENCORE: How memories work, how we form them, improve them and how they can be manipulated
This episode is an encore of one of my favourite episodes of all time, where I dive deep into the minutiae of memory, how false memories are formed, how we can implant memories and how memories can be manipulated, and how you can improve your own memory.
In this episode I’ll discuss how memories form, how consolidation happens, the difference between short term and long term memory, what happens to your memory when you get lesions or accidents or certain brain conditions like strokes or brain damage.
At the end I'll touch on ways that you can actually improve your memory and I think it's important because memory is one of the major causes of stress and depression. So pay attention!

337. ENCORE: How to be Self-Assured and Comfortable in Your Own Skin
My lovely BEANS I’m currently on vacation in Europe, so we're diving into the back catalogue to revisit one of my favourite episodes all about self-confidence and self-assurance.
It's a topic that I get asked a lot about a lot, and I think it's important to touch on this topic. And I think that self-assurance is something that needs to be worked on all the time just like a muscle, just like your health. So, what is self-assurance and where does it come from? A lot of us struggle to assert ourselves in certain situations, especially when we feel pressure from ourselves, society, our parents, our friends.
If you’re always trying to please others at the expense of yourself then this episode is for you! I've got 7 points for you to follow for what to do to increase your self assurance. Let's do it!

334. How to REALLY stop caring about what people think of you
How do you stop caring about what people think of you? How can you let go of the things that keep you from living the life you want? This question is so crippling for so many of us, but there IS a simple solution. In this episode we’ll learn how to deal with these feelings in a way that don't consume you and stop you from going on with your life.
Plus I'll give you my 7 steps to overcome falling into the trap of caring what people think about you!
BUT FIRST!
BRAIN FACT:Central Sensitization and chronic pain: the phenomena when there is an enhancement in the function of the neurons and the circuits that are involved in nociceptive pathways causing an echo or remembered pain. It happens because of an increase in membrane excitability and synaptic efficacy. It’s a great example for how neuroplasticity works in a negative way and has been linked to chronic pain.

Customer Reviews
Absolutely love!
I love this podcast, I’ve been listening since the beginning. I am loving the Head Noise episodes, they’re now my favourite!
I would love to suggest putting what time in the podcast notes that the brain facts end because I don’t always want to listen to them.
Intense
I love the premise of this podcasts and the ideas but the amount of swearing is so off putting for me. I don’t mind a bit of swearing but some of the episodes I’ve listened to lately are a bit intense. But if that’s your cup of tea then this podcast is great!
Amazing
I am so thankful for this podcast and honestly writing a review is the very least I feel I can do to express my gratitude. Alexis is so clever, articulated and engaging in the way she delivers this podcast. Her advice in this podcast has helped me make life changing decisions, even a complete career change that I am now so happy in.
