Informative & interesting

I enjoy listening to this smart podcast, looking at current health issues, cutting edge research & potential changes in health treatments and care. The host is clearly very intelligent & well informed about his sector - he keeps guests on track and helps explain medical concepts and terms. I do wish he wouldn’t interrupt his interviewees quite so often though, especially when they’re midway through a response.

Questionable delivery quality

James Bullen does an excellent job replacing Norman when he’s away. However, the quality of delivery from his guest this week, the ABC science reporter, is questionable. I believe science/medical reporting deserves a certain amount of gravitas/maturity for credibility. The ABC science reporter peppered her HRT report with multiple ‘yeahs’, ‘kindas’ and ‘you knows’ which detracted hugely from the content and made her sound like a schoolgirl chatting to her friends. This show deserves better, ABC.

Keto diets

Dr Swan is ill informed about a well formed Keto diet and years of research proving a reduction in type 2 diabetes l, usefulness in type 1 diabetes management, easy weight management, benefits to cardiovascular health. Many doctors in Australia use this approach. Of course it requires the elimination of most processed foods (3/4 of supermarket products) and all grain products. Of course thus would pose a threat to our grain industry and supermarket profits in short term. I wonder why Dr Swan didn’t speak of the phenomenal savings in our growing health costs by using the Keto diet. It is not a fad for me. It is a way of life after losing a stubborn 13 kg easily and reducing all my inflammatory markets, joint aches, and achieving percent hbA1c levels.
