Q&A:
- What’s the most innovative thing you’ve seen a charity do?
- Innovation as simplification sounds great, but very often we can be afraid to simplify. Why do you think we are afraid of simplification and how can we combat that fear?
- How could someone who has an innovative idea for their org or role successfully pitch that to a leader who is mostly focused on the past or more conservative when it comes to change?
Coaching Question: Innovation can be pointless if it’s not functional. Everyone can think of ideas, but not everyone can think of ideas that are do-able in the constraints of time and resource a charity might face. So, let’s think about functional creativity in your role. Pick one area of your role that you find challenging or laborious and write it down on a piece of paper. Draw a rectangle around it. What is in the top right corner, not out of the box?
If you’re a copywriter struggling to keep up with the demands of copy, outside the box might be another hire to help, so maybe the top wright corner is utilising the power of generative AI to help with creative prompts or the brunt work, so you can simplify your role?
Whatever your role is, think about that top right corner, and how you can bring functional innovation to your role.
