My Year in Mensa

Jamie Loftus takes you through her year in the high-IQ Mensa society, from taking the test as a joke to spending the Fourth of July with 2000 angry Mensans in Phoenix. Chaos reigns, but at least it tests well.

Is she the funniest person alive? Perhaps!
Smarty pants takedown in 4 episodes

This is gold. Jamie Loftus uses no snarkiness, no character assassination - just a clever and well crafted production that shows that while there are lots of good people on Mensa, it origins need examining. And that smart people can be…. unpleasant at times. The prevalence of right wing craziness, and more to the point, the lack of responsibility Mensa takes for the hatefulness spouted by members makes me never want to join. (I do, however, want to subscribe to her next podcast!)
Interesting topic, slightly irritating delivery

The host has found an interesting topic to explore, however she is at times annoyingly self referential, she speaks very quickly without pause, and she uses air horns to punctuate her episodes which is extremely annoying. I think with a little refinement she will become a great podcaster.
Fun! Binge worthy

I enjoyed this. I laughed a lot. I related to the blah of millennial women and being in uncomfortable situations, and then was very happy I’ve never been in a series of situations THAT uncomfortable. Thank you for the interesting story!
What??

The most underwhelming podcast I’ve ever heard. She joined MENSA for a laugh, outed members who insulted her in their weird Facebook group, got blocked, went to a dull conference and erm…that’s it, that’s the story. Don’t waste your time.
Binged This - hilarious and frightening

My ex was a member of Mensa and thought himself superior to most people? Hi IQ but couldn't make a decision to save himself. Would love him to hear it.
Didn’t love

I was interested in this, expecting a bit of the history of Mensa and how it’s developed into whatever kooky form it now takes. What I got was a pretty dry, wandering monologue about a weekend at a crappy convention. Sure it uncovered some concerning issues but i just didn’t think there was enough of a story there for a whole 4 parter.
Love it

Fantastic. Entertaining, witty, insightful. More please. I’d like a 4 parter on concert organs to start with, then something about long-assed bus trips to Arizona in the middle of summer. Who does those bus trips? Why? Stay tuned as our brave Mensan finds all the answers we so desperately seek. Like Susan.
Makes me feel smart

Some of the background music sounds too much like my alarm for me to be totally comfortable, but otherwise enjoyable. Hi to the haters! :-)
A great insight into the workings of Mensa

High Intelligence doesn’t necessarily equate to wisdom as Jamie shows here. Excellent listening.
