This is a running plan designed to get complete beginners from couch potato to running 5k (or 30 minutes) in nine weeks.
It is:
- Achievable - starting with a mix of running and walking and building up slowly
- Virtually free - all you need is a decent pair of trainers and an MP3 player (a regular mobile phone will do)
- Easy - a motivating 'personal trainer' tells you exactly when to stop and start.
The plan sets three runs per week with a day of rest between each run.

Help me too! I love this version - can’t find much else that is as good. Hope it loads or works again soon - I’m planning to jog tomorrow morning!
Life goal achieved!
I’ve always wanted to be able to run for fitness but “I’m not a runner”. Today I went for a run on holidays because I can. Thanks to Laura’s gentle coaching I ran 5k (took me a little longer than the 30mins but I freaking did it!!). I found the pace good. I skipped ahead a few in weeks 5 & 6 but finished up in about 8 weeks. I keep re-listening to week 9 as I really like that I can still go for a 30 minute run and Laura chimes in with the how many minutes to go and words of encouragement.
Thanks team that put this together!
Easy to follow!
I found this program an easy way to get into running. I loved it!
