When Matthew MaGill died alone in the woods on the Florida-Georgia border, he left behind a box filled with the artifacts of an incredible life: from Broadway in the 1970s, to a 747 hijacking, to the culture of drugs and luxury cars in 1980s Florida. A series of coincidences leads reporter Eric Mennel to the box, sending him on a five-year search to understand the truth about its owner. But as Mennel learns who Matthew MaGill really was, he is confronted with questions about his own life, his own mistakes, and his own family secrets.

Worth a listen.

What do you call a person who is overly interested in other people's affairs while failing to manage their own responsibilities effectively. A meddling busybody 😝.

It's worth a listen, really enjoyed it. I never give a five star rating. Thank you.

Slightly odd digression into narrator’s personal life

I have given this 4 stars and recommend it as worth a listen. However, the digression into the narrator’s personal life - while clearly setting a context for understanding the imperfect nature of families and therefore a parallel to the main protagonist - was perhaps overdone. I occasionally had to check whether I was still listening to the original podcast! Perhaps it was a ‘series 2’. No - it wasn’t. It was the same series. The fact we almost entirely lose focus on the main subject of the podcast for seemingly 3 episodes was, frankly, a little odd.

Had high hopes

Podcast had everything until .. it didn’t. Am I still listening to the same one? Or did I accidentally start another? It has started to turn down into a major retrospective of the narrators life and well.. feels like a bit of bait and switch to be honest. Doubt I will listen to the end even though production values, interviews, storming (original) is great. Am left scratching about my head about the point of it all. I’ve honestly thought for two episodes this was about 9/11 I’ve been so confused!
