    Episode 6 - WTF, you can’t visualise?!

    Episode 6 - WTF, you can’t visualise?!

Well it’s been a hot minute but were back. We recorded this one before our unexpected hiatus due to uni and life commitments. It’s taken us a bit (well maybe more than a bit) longer to get it to you guys but here it is.

This week we discuss the ability to visualise and the inability to visualise, also know as Aphantasia. Don’t be surprised if you’ve never heard that term before. We will fill you in!

Peta has Aphantasia and Avanthi sits at the other end of the spectrum as someone who can hypervisualise. This is such an interesting topic and we only cover aspects of Aphantasia that relate to being creative.

After listening to this you might be able to relate! Aphantasia can make you feel pretty low, especially as an artist so if you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by it, please reach out. Especially to Peta. She is finally finding her feet through this.

Through this episode we mention the Aphantasia network, a supportive community of other people who also have Aphantasia. You can find them on Instagram here

This might just be the first of many around this topic as Aphantasia can be experienced to various degrees. If you want to let us know your thoughts on this, feel free to reach out!

    Thanks for listening everyone :)

Episode 5 - Forget the algorithm

Episode 5 - Forget the algorithm

Bring on our unofficial Part 2 of social media. First off, if you haven’t listened to Episode 4, we highly recommend you do that. This will make so much more sense if you do.

We’re getting a bit more technical this week. Hashtags, captions and what the heck is a CTA? This is also known as a ‘call to action’. And we discuss that all important concept of defining your perfect audience. Who are you trying to reach? Who does your art speak too? Is any of this rubbish actually that important?

This time it is Avanthi’s turn to go on a rant, albeit a bit quieter than Peta’s.

We hope you thoroughly enjoy listening to it. Five episodes in and we think we’re finally finding our groove.

If you have any questions about what we talk about, tips to offer us and any erks about social media, hit us up. We always love to chat :)

Episode 4 - Peta goes on a rant

Episode 4 - Peta goes on a rant

After a short break (thanks Covid, school holidays and assignment deadlines...and life), we are back!

This is a doozy of an episode all about our best friend, social media. It’s a hot topic, we all know that. So what’s our take on it you ask. Well, it's all to do with the various platforms you can use, following trends (whether it is even necessary), telling your story, YOUR way and that all important fact, content is king!

You will hear the passion in Peta’s voice as she goes on….and on…about some of her many social media erks. We guarantee this is a hilarious listen.

We’ve also decided to call this Part 1 of our social media chat, otherwise this conversation would’ve gone on for hours.

Enjoy! And if you have any questions, erks or rants about social media, please do let us know. We can rant with you :)

Episode 3 - You gotta put yourself out there

Episode 3 - You gotta put yourself out there

Welcome to episode 3. This week we delve into the importance of building a community around you as a creative as well as getting your networking game on. To kick it off, we chat about how we met each other (though our memory is a bit hazy on the details).

But what else? Well, just how important is it to have a supportive community as an artist? What are the benefits and are there any downsides? We look at how it will help but how it may also hinder the creative process. How does networking help? And is it really about who you know?

As always we go off on a tangent and also bring into the conversation some quick thoughts on what it means to copy other artists and the joys of social media (no sarcasm intended).

We also mention MAVA Inc., a not-for-profit artists association there to support other Melbourne and Victorian artists. If you would to find out more about MAVA Inc. head to www.mavacollective.com

Finding a supportive community to help you on your creative journey can seem daunting and a little scary but for us it has been 100% worth it. In many ways. If you are at the start of your creative journey or just need some extra support, reach out to us. We’re more than happy to connect and chat all things art and life.

    Episode 2 - Bountiful! Now that's a good word.

    Episode 2 - Bountiful! Now that's a good word.

This week we chat all things study (and spelunking). As we’re both studying Fine Art, this seemed only fitting.
Is studying really necessary? What kind of impact has it had on us personally and in our creative practice? What are the ins and outs of studying and what are the payoffs? We discuss all of it in this episode.
