I just wanted to quickly say thank you Katy for bringing these wonderful women to your show, it’s so great so hear their experiences and I can relate to so many of them. Listening to your podcast has become part of my daily walks, I have listened to a lot of your older podcasts. I will be a little sad when I finally catch up.

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 48. To say it has been overwhelming is putting it lightly. I am therefore so incredibly happy that I found this podcast. To have the opportunity to listen to the stories of other women that I can actually relate to is MIND BLOWING!!! I always assumed everyone sees the world like I do. But they don’t. To then find a tribe of other women whom I can relate to is so comforting.
Love it!!

I struggled with life for my entire life and it took a demyelinating attack on my brain in 2013 to force me on to a pathway to solve the mystery. I finally received a narcolepsy diagnosis by accident in 2017 at age 49 which answered a lot of my questions but not all of them. Receiving treatment that allowed me to have restorative sleep for the first time in my life has enabled my brain to finally rest at night, and in turn allowed me to be able to recover long lost memories. I became more aware of my behaviour once I was no longer starting each day sleep deprived, and that resulted in me realising that my narcolepsy wasn’t the only thing impacting me. Earlier in the year my partner asked me if I had ever been tested for ADHD, my initial response was to laugh because to me someone who has this is supposed to be bouncing around the room! But I was curious, most likely due to me not having considered narcolepsy either. Why? Because I didn’t fall down asleep in historically amusing situations! I began to research ADHD and once I discovered that hyper focus was a sign of ADHD, I began to consider the possibility that I could have it. I asked my GP for a referral to a psychiatrist who is qualified to diagnosis ADHD in adults and recently had my appointment, receiving a diagnosis immediately aged 53! This podcast is my first attempt at trying to find ways to manage living with ADHD and I am very pleased that I found it. Thank you for helping.
