    Equilibrisme Podcast #014 Luke Hess

We are very excited to share our fourteenth edition of the Equilibrisme Podcast Series. This time we proudly present you : Luke Hess. Born in 1980 in Metro Detroit and subject to the city's mid-90's warehouse parties, Luke Hess has harnessed a deep appreciation for electronic music and the expression of the underground movement. His background in mathematics and engineering has given him a scientific approach to the dance-floor, using frequencies, tones, and soundscapes to transform surroundings and mood. Luke's faith based music production landed him a seat with Omar S' FXHE label & Carl Craig's Planet-e label in Detroit. Hess has celebrated original productions and remix material on labels such as DeepLabs, FXHE, Planet-e, Motech, Beretta Grey, Echocord, Kontra-Music, Modelisme, Ornaments, Echocord Colour, & more. In 2009, Luke released his first album, "Light in the Dark" on Denmark-based record label, Echocord. "Light in the Dark" received glowing reviews and was hailed by many as one of the best deep techno albums of the year. With 15 years of DJ experience and many notable LIVE sets across the world, Luke is regarded as a perfectionist on stage. Hess is known to layer his sets in a very detailed, hypnotic, & soulful manner. After playing many notable venues & festivals such as Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Berghain & Panorama Bar - Berlin, Fabric - London, Unit - Tokyo, Culture Box - Copenhagen, Bunker - NYC, Decibel Festival - Seattle, Basement - Hong Kong, etc., he is excited to continue exploring the world stage and introducing new and old fans to his raw & deep breed of Detroit techno. Luke's continued hard work in the studio & behind the decks combined with his unyielding interest in technology and sound will no doubt stimulate the boundaries of electronic music. We have been following Luke since 2009 and are very happy to have him onboard for our Equilibrisme Podcast Series. Luke also contributed a track for our recent vinyl release “Kraken EP”. Thank you, Luke for creating this beautiful mix for Equilibrisme. Enjoy this deep journey!

  2. Equilibrisme Podcast #013 Matt & Mark Thibideau Live

Equilibrisme Podcast #013 Matt & Mark Thibideau Live

For our thirteenth edition of the Equilibrisme Podcast Series, we proudly present you : Matt & Mark Thibideau (Live). Long-time contributors to the Canadian electronic music scene, Matt and Mark Thibideau have performed under a few different monikers (Repair, Altitude, Mark & Matt Thibideau) in the last 15 years. As a duo, or on their own, they’ve played some of the most influential clubs and festivals in the world, doing so without compromising their talent or commitment to producing artful music. They have joined forces to incorporate elements of both of their respective outputs fusing two separate bodies of work in one cohesive live performance. As much dance floor-ready as it is synapse stimulating, it’s music that resists easy classification. The fraternal twins perform hypnotic dub techno, slow-burning deep house to energetic machine-tech curiosities on hardware synthesizers and drum machines. Their performances both together and separate have included Mutek Buenos Aries, 02, 03, 2009, and 2012, 2014, Picnic Electronique, 2017 / Montreal, Studio 672/ Cologne, Observatori Festival / Spain, Ministerium / Lisbon, Corvin Club Budapest, Tresor, Heidegluhen, The Watergate & CDV / Berlin, The Bunker / NYC, Guesthouse & Eden / Bucharest and countless events in Toronto. Matt and Mark have record releases with a variety of labels including 7th City, Cynosure, Waehlscheibe, Assemble music, Joule Imprint, Helena, Vade Mecum, Irenic, Archipel, Klangsheiben, Berg Audio & Sushitech and Equilibrisme. In 2011 the pair launched the label Obsolete Components — a small label featuring artists who share their passions for analog synthesizers and recording equipment. The Thibideau’s have also been featured in the documentary “I Dream of Wires” talking about their love for modular synthesizers. We are very happy and honoured that our good friends and favorite brothers joined us once more for our podcast series - this time both together! This live set was recorded at their home studio in 2021 and includes several unreleased tracks. Enjoy this beautiful ride!

  3. Equilibrisme Podcast #012 Ocean Lam

    21/01/2021

    Equilibrisme Podcast #012 Ocean Lam

For our twelfth edition of the Equilibrisme Podcast Series we proudly present you our dear friend Ocean Lam from Hong Kong. Strip away the flashy elements of “nightlife” to reveal the core of it all: the artist, the music and artistry; all of which Ocean Lam has built and cultivated with drive and passion over more than a decade. With a signature sound void of pretension and any need to be trendy, enveloping listeners with her own personality and story as basslines pump and roll between slicing snares adrift delicate vocals. Continuously spiraling and building upwards, playful and bouncing but no less severe or moody, Ocean Lam’s sound is atmospheric, shifting moods and energies whichever way she sees fit. A leader of Hong Kong’s growing electronic music scene and a long-standing female maverick in the overall Asian scene, Ocean Lam holds residences at Hong Kong’s top underground clubs, oma and Social Room, while serving as Social Room’s Music Director. She tirelessly works and collaborates regularly with local DJs and crews, as well as exposing the local audience to regional and international underground artists. She also works closely with regional promoters around Asia and China to support not only touring international artists but to foster a cultural exchange of artists from around the region. The uncontested regional opener for heavyweight names like Sven Vath, Jimpster, Efdemin, Axel Boman, Luke Hess, Nick Hoppner, Oliver Deutschmann, Sammy Dee and many more; Ocean has had headlining slots at Hong Kong's seminal arts and music festival, Clockenflap, for several years; she has curated and played a stage at Sonar Hong Kong and Altn8 Festival and has played at major festivals in the region such as Wonderfruit in Thailand, Epizode in Vietnam, and INTRO in Mongolia. For the most recent feather in her cap, in late 2019, she was tapped to represent Hong Kong at its first live edition of Boiler Room at Shi Fu Miz festival. This beautiful mix was specially created for Equilibrisme Music in January 2021. Enjoy the journey….!
