    Vanessa Brizuela is a technical officer in the Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research at WHO. She and her team are leading efforts on research capacity strengthening in sexual and reproductive health and rights. Vanessa started her career in Argentina as a licensed psychologist; however she has always had a passion for global maternal and newborn health. She has coordinated a host of sexual and reproductive education programmes in New York, the Caribbean and Buenos Aires. She holds a Doctorate in Public Health with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Join the SanyuSisters as we chat to Vanessa and learn about her journey into International health.

    Join the Sanyu Sisters as they chat with Dame Professor Tina Lavender. Tina is Professor of Maternal and Newborn health and director of a World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre. Tina's career has focused on building the research capacity of midwives and developing the Lugina Africa Midwives Research Network(LAMRN) to improve evidence-based practices, with a focus on still birth and respectful care.
    Some of her other accolades include Visiting Professor at the University of Nairobi, Director of the NIHR Global Health Research Group on the Prevention and Management of Stillbirth, working in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is also the Associate Editor of the African Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health.

    The Sanyu Sisters are Back! Join us for our very first episode of Series 2 as we chat to the inspiring Lenka Benova; Professor of Maternal Health at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) Antwerp. From business management to project coordination for Médecins Sans Frontières in Nigeria, Palestine and South Sudan, Lenka saw first hand the impact that socioeconomic inequity has on health. Motivated to learn more, she holds 2 Masters degrees in Middle East Studies and Demography as well as a PhD in Population Studies from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine. She is passionate about maternal and newborn care and in particular understanding postnatal care provision in health facilities.
