Redox Biology & Introducing BioBlue Calm

Redox Biology & Introducing BioBlue Calm

I always like learning about topics that can directly or indirectly affect mitochondrial function. At the end of the day, those are other potential strategies for optimizing mitochondrial health and the root cause of health, wellness and longevity. Redox biology fits that to a tee, meaning if you can improve your internal redox signaling you will inherently improve your mitochondrial function. I like that!We will gain a nice overview of exactly what redox is, why it matters and how it impacts all aspects of health. We will turn to Dr. Lee Ostler's book, Redox Matters, to learn the highlights of redox biology and signaling and why it is undoubtedly a foundational aspect of all health and wellness (which should be no surprise given its entanglement with mitochondrial function). For the second part of the episode I will introduce BioLight's fourth version of BioBlue, which certainly lives up to its name: BioBlue Calm. BioBlue Calm is a blend of six herbs and minerals combined with pharmaceutical grade methylene blue (USP >99.5%) to help promote relaxation and a sense of calm. This recipe includes all of the same ingredients as our flagship BioBlue product minus nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN). We decided to remove NMN because while is not a stimulant, it can be stimulating to our physiology given its properties for improving mitochondrial function and energy production.

Between the removal of the NMN and the addition of:

    AshwagandhaValerianPassionflowerKavaMagnesium glycinateMagnesium L-threonate
...BioBlue Calm functions as a "weighted blanket" for your brain and your nervous system, providing a physiological tranquility in times of stress, anxiety and/or when falling asleep is difficult.

All of the above herbs and minerals contribute to reducing cortisol levels and improved GABA activity in the brain. This alone promotes a deep sense of calm.

Research: Mitophagy & Aging, Methylene Blue For Oral Biofilm, Pre-conditioning Muscles w/ Red Light Therapy For Exercise Performance, Transcranial Photobiomodulation For Children w/ Autism

This week we are going to cover a wide array of research:
Mitophagy's impact on aging (the mitochondria's process of selective degradation of mitochondria by autophagy). If you can't get rid of the garbage mitochondria, that's a rotten deal for your health.

Methylene blue's role in combatting oral biofilm (a sticky film that coats teeth and contains bacteria). Our blue friend may actually be playing a beneficial role by temporarily staining your teeth blue. Who wouldn't trade tooth decay, receding gums and bad breath for that?

Preconditioning your muscles for improved muscular strength, endurance and recovery. In reality, how beneficial is this strategy for the active population?

Transcranial photobiomodulation for children with autism spectrum disorder. Is this an efficacious treatment for children to mitigate symptoms of ASD?

Research: Red Light Therapy For Childhood Myopia / Primary Mitochondrial Diseases; Introducing BioBlue (SR)

Research: Red Light Therapy For Childhood Myopia / Primary Mitochondrial Diseases; Introducing BioBlue (SR)

It's about time that we dig back into some photobiomodulation research. This week we will take a deep dive into the impact of repeated low level red light therapy on childhood myopia. With an ever-increasing divergence of time that children spend viewing near-distance objects like phones, tablets, computers, TVs, etc. compared to time outside where the eyes have to focus on objects in the distance, this condition in particular is quickly on the rise and becoming an epidemic of its own. So if something as simple, safe and effective as red light therapy can help combat, mitigate and even reverse myopia, who wouldn't want to have this tool in their toolbox for their kid(s) and/or for themselves?!Next we will visit an abstract that looks at primary mitochondrial diseases and how bioenergetics, oxidative stress and neuroinflammation all play a potential role. Sounds to me like The Mitochondrial Triad has a potentially large role to play here, as they can all positively impact those three variables and undoubtedly improve the function of the mitochondria. Red light therapy, methylene blue and C60 — a mitochondrion's delight!Lastly, I introduce the newest version of BioLight's BioBlue. BioBlue (SR) is the very first supplement of its kind, consisting of a 50/50 blend of methylene blue and leucomethylene blue that provides the best of both worlds and delivers a Sustained Release of the mitochondrial-boosting properties of these blue molecules. Learn more about the benefits of this BioBlue concoction and why it was created!

Methylene Blue For Skin Health & Groundbreaking, Innovative Anti-aging Skincare Formula: BioCream

Methylene Blue For Skin Health & Groundbreaking, Innovative Anti-aging Skincare Formula: BioCream

Over the last six months-plus, we have covered the numerous research-backed ways that methylene blue can help improve our health and mitochondrial function: from being one of the most potent antioxidants out there (i.e., one of the best electron donors available) to combatting neurodegeneration to reducing stress/anxiety/depression to fiercely combatting viruses and harmful bacteria to its powerful photodynamic capabilities with red light therapy and much more. Yet there is one anti-aging purview related to methylene blue we have not discussed yet: the skin!

While it may seem counterintuitive that a blue dye could have such a positive influence on skin health, the research clearly demonstrates that it both improves skin thickness (our skin thins as we age) and skin hydration (likewise, decreases as we chronologically age and contributes to wrinkling). I will cover two different articles that articulate these amazing skin health benefits and more from topical methylene blue.During this episode, I will also review the cutting-edge anti-aging skin ingredients that BioLight incorporates into our one-of-a-kind skin cream and the role those ingredients play into augmenting skin health. And with that being said, that cream is getting a major update and upgrade to its recipe and will be rebranded to BioCream. And for those that read this far, you'll be one of the first to know that the BioCream is being released this weekend! If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. The God Molecule: C60's Science & Health Benefits; Research: Red Light Therapy For Chronic Stress

The God Molecule: C60's Science & Health Benefits; Research: Red Light Therapy For Chronic Stress

It seems that methylene blue (MB) has continued to capture the attention on those looking to optimize mitochondrial health — and for good reason. After all, it may be one of the easiest and fastest way to improve mitochondrial function. But remember that third pillar of The Mitochondrial Triad? Yeah, that C60 thing... Perhaps it hasn't gotten as much love on this podcast and/or may be even lesser known than MB. But trust me when I say that C60 is second place to no one when it comes to optimizing cellular energy and mitochondrial function, which, ultimately leads to efficient energy and biological water production. In today's episode, I want to take a deeper dive into C60 and discuss the science of how it can contribute to mitigating diseases while also markedly boosting healthspan and longevity. For that, we'll be reviewing some of Chris Campbell's book, C60 Science: The God Molecule Hypothesis. Quite the book title, right? But the theory posited by Chris it quite intriguing. Needless to say, after this discussion you will see why C60 earned its spot in The Mitochondrial Triad and should be highly considered for anyone that has a mitochondrion in their body. For the red light therapy side of things, I review an ahead of print photobiomodulation research article (it doesn't get officially published until June!) that looks at treating the gut and brain to help reduce chronic stress. The study produced positive results, including: "combined non-invasive photobiomodulation partially restores some gut microbiota dysbiosis induced by chronic stress." Combine this with the vagus nerve treatment via RLT that we learned last week from Abe and we have another triad — this one being a triad of RLT locations to help reduce stress. Non-invasive and non-pharmacological. What's not to like!

Pain Relief via the Eyes: Incredibly Effective Neurological Approaches for Improving Health w/ Abe Al-Baba

We've all heard that "the eye is the window to the soul," but have you heard of strategically utilizing the visual system to get rid of pain, improve emotions and normalize countless health conditions that are otherwise difficult to treat? Today's conversation with Abe Al-Baba will knock your socks off with both the education he provides and the anecdotes he shares with how he helps his clients reach peak performance and/or improve their overall health status. This is one of the more interesting conversations I've had in quite some time!Abe and I met at the HYDRATE Summit that was put on by Tracy Duhs a couple of weekends ago. We were there to learn about water, but he and I got to talking and soon discovered that we shared countless other mutual interests. After hearing about his novel techniques for successfully helping his clients, some of which are seemingly beyond simplistic (but have deep neurological basis), I knew I had to have him on the podcast so that he could share his knowledge and stories with you all. He even walked me through a couple of quick assessments/treatments that I can use on myself, including how to treat my vagus nerve with red light therapy! Isn't that something we could all benefit from in this fast-paced, high-stress world we live in?Abe Al-Baba is the author of Fuel Your Performance™ and CEO of 3 in 1 Elite, a sports performance company. His absolute passion is paving the way to a healthy lifestyle through fitness and nutrition. Abe is one of San Diego’s Top Trainer’s by Discover/Pacific SD Magazine. Over the past decade, he has really embraced the power of neuroscience. With a thorough assessment he unravels specific components that hold you back, ultimately coming up with individualized drills that give your unique brain better input. Furthermore, his book, "Fuel Your Performance," helps any and all optimize their performance.I hope you enjoy the conversation today with Abe. Please share this episode with family, friends and colleagues if you find the content especially interesting and/or impactful.
