Buffering the Vampire Slayer

Confession: I can’t believe I haven’t written a review and am so embarrassed because I have been listening since it started… Jenny and Kristin are so much fun to listen to. I love the jingles, sexual tension award, original music by Jenny, the in-depth conversations, the incredible interviews and so much more! Now that I writing this I have a compulsion to re-listen from the beginning that’s how much I love this podcast.

I’m very late to Buffy podcasts, but I found a thread on the best Buffy podcasts, I tried Just Slayin’, Tiny Fences and The Rewatcher but this one is my favourite! Kristin and Jenny are such great people to listen to: their voices, jokes and just the general way the podcast is done makes it superior. Great editing, they’re funny and the ending song is always something to look forward to. I enjoy when they share what fans have written in and the the Buffy fashion segment too of course. Edit: once you get further in, the intros before the episode are so long and hearing “the patriarchy” jingle beat to death gets rather annoying. I’m really not sure every show needs to be looked at through today’s lens, because about zero shows would pass. I think everyone gets that times change and things they were once common become unacceptable. I didn’t enjoy Gaby Dunn, she was either quite obnoxious or ranting (could have been edited). As others have said some episode topics get overlooked by going on and on about “problematic” things one didn’t enjoy

Just a quick note that I love this podcast! I love their songs and jingles, deep down rewatch knowledge, and super fun guests and segments! I’m a big fan of “Now for our friend Kate, with the Buffy fashion update.” I’ve been talking for weeks learning that all fashion is cyclical. Thanks for a great show!

I’ve been telling anyone that may or may not listen about the show. The jingles, the songs, the guests… Even without them taken away, this is a thoughtful, smart, creative and fun show. Two genuine and charming hosts having some of the best cultural and intercultural dialogue through the lens of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now, with these wonderful people and these important discussions, we get great guests, live episodes, JIGNLES!! And, a wealth of great songs. 5/5 stars kind of feels like I’m undervaluing it still. What a gift this show is.
