Criticism With Care 💜
May 2
This show takes teendom seriously because it should be and that demographic never is. The hosts always dive in with curiosity even if they don’t wind up loving what they find. They are honest about their own positioning as viewers and include tales of their growth as critics and appreciators of film as well as personal stories which is so refreshing and sometimes deeply moving. As a listener of (cough) a certain age, this show has taken me down nostalgia lane and helped me find connection points with more recent films that didn’t hit at first watch. I just love to hang out with two folk who care deeply but still have a strong critical lens. Just perfectly pitched. Thank you, even if you wouldn’t invite me to prom.
Gut punch realness

BJ and Harmony are great hosts and I love listening to them re-hash teen movies! I’ve been going back to listen to older episodes that I’d originally missed and finally listened to the Wristcutters episode which prompted this review. It was one of my favourite movies in my early 20s, and their review was so beautiful and gut wrenching I basically sobbed through the entire thing. LOVE YOU TWO!!!
