Empowered Wellness with Megan Pomarensky, PMP 94 The Way of The Primal Man with Chase Tolleson

    • Health & Fitness

If what we think is articulated by our words, both internally - the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves, and externally, the words we choose to use in conversation, which then shape our belief systems that carry out our (in)actions, the same could be said with the way we approach injuries, right?

Our guest today is the leading professional in alternative approaches to Athletic Therapy and injury rehabilitation. Megan Pomarensky holds a Master’s in Rehabilitation Science, is a Certified Athletic Therapist (Canada), Certified Functional Strength Coach and Certified Vinyasa Yoga Instructor (250hrs). Some of current accolades include being the Teaching Assistant in Craig Liebenson’s First Principles of Movement Mentorship, being on the Canadian Athletic Therapists’s Association Board of Certification [National Certification Exam Development] and at the University of Winnipeg Athletic Therapy program she's the practical skills lab instructor for various courses.
She's been sought after by legends in the strength and conditioning world like Mike Boyle as well as the Journal of Athletic Training to publish her works on the science of rehabilitation and is absolutely disrupting the current system that feeds on keeping people in a victim mindset about injury rehabilitation. She says there's another way and in today's show, we find out how her approach is helping dig people out from under the pile of rubble left in the wake of the victim mentality in the athletic performance world. Here are some show highlights. This one's a banger, dudes. Here are the highlights:
Megan's story (3:45) The value in down-regulating the parasympathetic nervous system (9:54) The current system of recovery is broken (15:08) How to really deal with pain (23:07) Breathe, listen and chill (41:37) Action dispels overwhelm: (47:47)
