Episode 50: Secular and Inclusive - What is the Justisse method of fertility awareness? - featuring Joy Davis, Justisse instructor Wholly a Woman

    • Health & Fitness

Which “brand” of fertility awareness is right for you? You can think of different fertility awareness based methods / natural family planning methods as different brands. All will help you identify your body’s natural signs of fertility and then use those signs to achieve your family planning and/or health goals. It’s just about figuring out what method makes the most sense for you and your situation, and, especially if using for family planning, what instructor you fit best with.

Joy Davis is an instructor in the Justisse method of fertility awareness. Unlike other natural family planning methods, the Justisse method is secular and inclusive. Is this the right option for you?

Here is some of what you will hear in the interview with Joy:
-The Justisse method was born out of a desire for non-religious fertility awareness
-It is a secular and inclusive method of body literacy
-Justisse is a symptothermal method, using cervical mucus and basal body temperature as fertility signs
-Fertility awareness transforms the way you look at your body. Instead of suppressing, you’re embracing your body
-Once you understand your cycle and what it means to be in different phases of your cycle, you can incorporate that cyclic natural into your whole life
-”I don’t gamble, especially not with my birth control”
-Natural family planning and fertility awareness methods are more effective when you work with an instructor
