the Halifax Glove Guy - Part 1 - four stories from late night Halifax

the Halifax Glove Guy - Part 1 - four stories from late night Halifax

Halifax, Nova Scotia is a city with no shortage of tall tales, folklore, and urban legends.
The story of the Glove Guy may be stranger than all of them.
It’s a common experience for men in Halifax… a friend of a friend was said to have had accepted an offer for a free ride home from downtown late at night, only to clumsily reveal a leather glove fetish along the way.
So get in, sit down, and put on your seat belt.
In this episode Madelayne Klein and I discuss four listener contributed stories of late night encounters with the enigmatic glove guy.

the Story of Rocky Rambo Wei Nam Kam (with Jack Luna)

the Story of Rocky Rambo Wei Nam Kam (with Jack Luna)

When Dianna Mah-Jones uncharacteristically missed a meeting, a co-worker went to her house to check on her. What was found in the home was aftermath of one of Vancouver’s most horrific crimes.
The double murder of 65 year old Dianna Mah-Jones and her 68 year old husband Richard Jones was as brutal as it is senseless.
When the suspect, 25 year old Rocky Rambo Wei Nam Kam, was questioned he seemed more interested in talking to police about video games then what happened inside the home.
In fact, video games would become a major part of the case… as Rocky Rambo’s defense is that he thought he was in one when the elderly couple were brutally murdered.

TORONTO 1978 - 1990

I lived in Cabbage town during this time. This was during the Bathhouse police raids & the College Avenue Maple Leaf consortium taking advantage of impressionable kids along with societal non acceptance of gays.
Our street was part of the gay very successful business owners who were doing major improvements to the area but some of whom associated with children 14 -18.
This was the beginning of AIDS in Toronto & led to so many young men dying with few doctors
This was also when kids about 10 yrs old were shoe shining & living on Yonge St.
Two men grabbed a kid & killed him on Yonge St in an apt above a business. I knew it well because my optometrist was close by & I was there frequently & worked downtown in an insurance company.
I went to bars there with live music (RonnieHawkins & The Band) & many hockey games.
Boy’s town was very real although I was very innocent at the time & only recognized it once when one of my neighbours used to have about 6 - 8 kids congregate outside his house early evenings.
The homeowner knew I didn’t like this. However I was very sympathetic when he died of AIDS but also knowing he had likely transmitted it to lots of others.
I was there when one victim of the College St consortium jumped off the Don Valley bridge to his death in the 80’s. His abusers were not given more than 3 - 5 years in prison & were paroled.
Prisoners were released into downtown Toronto with little oversight.
My sister & I had trouble keeping clear of them when going to the beaches with my very sweet & trusting nephew.

Unfortunate waste of time

I found a concept interesting. However, I found the content in particularly the podcasts, conspiracy theory a bunch of malarkey.

Dumb guy podcast

Sunday Show is awesome but honestly that Tik Tok girl is terrible. Doesn’t add anything at all to the show
