Bonus: The Senators at the center of the 50-50 split
“If we miss this opportunity, God help us.” Joe Manchin and Lisa Murkowski. Two moderate senators smack in the middle — and on either side — of a split 50-50 Senate. On our first episode of Playbook Deep Dive, the two friends open up in a rare interview with POLITICO’s Burgess Everett. They get personal: about reconciliation, frustration over the Senate’s hurdles — even why Murkowski hogs the best fishing holes. And Manchin reveals a major endorsement, heard first on this show.

Responsive host
I’m a Canadian who generally eschews American media, but desperate times and all that. I found this podcast randomly a couple of months ago and find it generally informative and entertaining. The host recently made some comments I now understand were meant in jest, however they were a little culturally insensitive. I sent him an email to advise him that I and several other Canadians didn’t think it was funny at all. More, we found it to be rather insulting. To his credit, he replied within a couple of hours and we hammered it out. Going forward, this will be where I go for measured and thoughtful explanations of and opinions on current American financial information.
