    Dude Process, Not Due Process

Huge news for lawyers: You can now listen to Strict Scrutiny for CLE! More info at crooked.com/strict_cleFriend of the Pod Emily Amick of Emily in Your Phone joins Leah to break down the week’s legal news, and the various and sundry ways due process is getting railroaded by Trump, the courts, and the terrible (mostly) men therein. While no discussion of bad decisions would be complete without the Fifth Circuit, we also have an appearance from Senator Josh Hawley, whose effort to limit information on medical abortion options has disturbing links to the playbook used against gender-affirming care. Then, Leah speaks with Kalpana Kotagal, Commissioner at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, about being the lone Democratic appointee after Trump fired the others, and the work of the Commission in a post-independent agency world. The Daily Blast: Trump Poll Collapse Hits New Milestone as Leaks Reveal Fresh GOP Panic

Donald Trump has hit a trifecta, throwing away the traditional GOP edge on the economy, immigration, and national security. The latest polls show Democrats are leading Republicans on the economy by a comfortable nine points, have hit near-parity with the GOP on immigration, and lead on foreign policy, even as Trump has sunk into the 20s on the Iran war, all shockers. These polls show it’s all driven by Trump’s collapsing approval on all three. Yet Trump just unleashed a huge new wave of tariffs. His GOP allies are leaking their deep dismay to Politico: One suggests this worsens the affordability problem and cannot be spun favorably by GOP candidates. Another says this is a “bad conversation for Republicans.” We talked to Democratic strategist Andrew Bates. He explains what all this looks like on the ground in difficult House races, what obstacles still remain, and why it remains hard for Democrats to win rural voters who are unhappy with Trump.  Looking for More from the DSR Network? Mark Towhey hosts the Jerry Agar show today and opens with commentary on the Gordie Howe Bridge, which officially opens to cars today after months of cross‑border controversy and political tension. Next, Mark explores condos for seniors and whether they could help address housing needs. He speaks with Jim Dunn, professor at McMaster University and director of the Canadian Housing Evidence Collaborative, about design, affordability, repurposing existing buildings, and why malls like Cloverdale aren’t using their land for seniors‑oriented housing. Mark then opens the phones: Would you move into a seniors‑focused condo?
