Strict Scrutiny is somewhere between The View and the show Suits. It is a loyally Democratic Party apologist podcast. It is opinionated, entertaining but something to play in the background while doing chores. After listening to a few episodes, I’ve realized that it cosplays legal thought and opinion, offering no new insight or it pretends as if the legal arguments against the Republicans are so obvious. The Republicans keep winning at the Supreme Court and this infuriates Strict Scrutiny hosts. The hosts in turn offer opinions against the Republicans, trying to take them to task as if the Justices and Republican layers are unqualified. The show can be improved with Strict Scrutiny hosts taking to task Democratic lawyers and Justices who keep losing. To use a sport analog: Strict Scrutiny hosts are Democratic armchair quarterbacks raging against the winning Republican opponents for consistently winning and having the better strategy. Instead, they should offer opinion and strategy on where the Democratic lawyers failed and how to improve.
