S-Town
S-Town is a podcast hosted by Brian Reed from Serial Productions, a New York Times company. The story follows a man named John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who's allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But when someone else ends up dead, the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man's life. Amazing

Incredible podcast with such interesting characters.
Perhaps the best piece of audio I have ever heard. UPDATE: Now behind a paywall???

Update: I still stand by my review of the actual podcast, so imagine how excited I was to see a new episode drop! I hurried to the feed, hoping it was an announcement of a new show for our dear host, or some kind of miraculous update about John. Imagine my utter disgust to find it was just a notice letting loyal listeners know that for some bizarre reason NYT has decided to put a paywall on a what, almost 10 year old podcast? Whatever would possess someone to think that’s a great idea is beyond me. Paywalls on previously free media is ridiculous. Premium subs should be for bonus content, not for the main feed. Guess I’m not listening to another podcast produced by Serial if they’ve sold out to NYT and its paywalls. - I don't have the words to describe how amazing this podcast is.
Definitely the best podcast ever created

I listened to this podcast when it was released. It was a formative podcast for me and set the standard high. I listen through it maybe once yearly - it’s still that good. I only stopped in to write this review because the podcast was presented within a list of recommendations, but I think I might just begin the journey again…
