The Good Whale
Fans of the movie “Free Willy” are outraged to learn that the real whale who played Willy lives in a tiny pool at an amusement park in Mexico City. So well-intentioned experts embark on an epic science experiment to try to teach one celebrity orca how to be free — while the world watches. I subscribed to the NYT because I wanted to binge the entire series. This was a beautifully written and narrated podcast. There were some good chuckles and many, many tears. The final question about where should Keiko have stayed after his rescue gave me pause but ultimately, I think Keiko’s time out of captivity was the best thing for him. I have long felt that captive marine mammals don’t belong in aquariums and this series cemented that belief.
Super annoyed that we can’t access the “newsletter” somewhere online

Always love everything Serial makes but am quite annoyed….. it’s kind of ridiculous how difficult it is to find this “newsletter” they refer to in the podcast. I have subscribed to it but then what..? I just wait to receive a random email about the next episode that is released to the public? …when I already have access to all of them because I’m a subscriber…. I just want to see each episodes correlating notes and photos and don’t want it to have to be in my email……. This is odd.
Incredible

I am four episodes in and have found this story so riveting, it is so well told. As someone who grew up while this was happening and remembers the movies, etc. it’s very fascinating to hear what was going on behind the scenes.
