The greatest story ever told is the one found on the pages of Scripture.

God's story is one seamless grand narrative of redemption, full of mystery and adventure, passion and heartache, unlikely people with impossible callings, and unimaginable plot twists. Every page points to Jesus Christ. And quite remarkably, we find our stories on the pages of His story.

Scripture & Story is a space where together we we will immerse ourselves in God’s Story, not to accumulate fun facts we can share over charcuterie boards, but so we can encounter the living God.

In a thousand ways, God is writing a story of redemption with our lives. He is turning our grief into joy, our disappointment into fulfillment, and our fear into faith. As you listen, you will gain clarity and confidence in your understanding of Scripture and discover how God’s story transforms yours.

Let's meet on the pages of God's Word!

#67 Who Am I? Part 3 'Put yourself first' ... and other lies

#67 Who Am I? Part 3 'Put yourself first' ... and other lies

During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we are finishing our three-part mini-series on our identity in Christ. This series is called Who Am I: Conquering the Lies and Embracing the Truth.

As Christians, our identity is in Christ alone. We need a biblical understanding of identity because if we don’t know who we are in Christ, the world is quick fill in the gaps for us. The problem is, who the world tells us we are, is not based on truth.

In our time we are talking about nine lies we are tempted to believe about our identity and the corresponding truth we are invited to embrace. Our goal is to conquer the lies and embrace the truth. We want to expose our false notions of identity, understand biblical truths about our identity in Christ, and talk about what it looks like to live from this new identity.

So grab a cup of coffee, your Bible, and get ready to take another long look in the mirror and join me on the pages of God’s Word.

#66 Who Am I? Part 2 'You are the boss of you' ... and other lies

During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we are in the middle of our three-part mini-series on our identity in Christ. This series is called Who Am I: Conquering the Lies and Embracing the Truth.

All of us struggle with identity at one time or another. We wrestle with who we are and what we are called to do. We need something stable - something unchanging - to place our identities in. That something is a Someone – Jesus Christ.

#65 Who Am I? Part 1 'You are enough' ... and other lies

#65 Who Am I? Part 1 'You are enough' ... and other lies

During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we are launching a three-part mini-series on our identity in Christ. I am calling this series Who Am I: Conquering the Lies and Embracing the Truth.

All of us struggle with identity at one time or another. We wrestle with who we are and what we are called to do. In certain seasons we allow roles to define us – roles like employee, wife, mother, friend, or sister. We can also allow where we live, how we serve in the church, where we vacation, our extended families or our college degree to define us. The problem with placing our identity in seasons of life or in roles, is that when that season ends or when the role is not as successful as we would like, we find ourselves floundering. Who am I really? We need something much more stable - something unchanging - to place our identities in.

As Christians, our identity is in Christ alone. We need a biblical understanding of identity because if we don’t know who we are in Christ, the world is quick fill in the gaps for us. The problem is, who the world tells us we are, is not based on truth.

In our time together over the next three episodes, we are going to talk about nine lies we are tempted to believe about our identity and the corresponding truth we are invited to embrace. Our goal is to conquer the lies and embrace the truth. We want to expose our false notions of identity, understand biblical truths about our identity in Christ, and talk about what it looks like to live from this new identity.

So grab a cup of coffee, your Bible, and get ready to take a good long look in the mirror and join me on the pages of God’s Word.

#64 When You Long for God to Do a New Thing

#64 When You Long for God to Do a New Thing

During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we are going to talk about God’s desire to make all things new.

We all have seasons where there are areas of our lives that feel stagnant, stale, old, tired or lifeless. In those seasons we desperately need God to do something new. We need His life-giving power, His renewing miraculous works, His reinvigorating presence. Our God can breathe fresh life into dead places. He is able to create something out of nothing.

So as we look out over the valley of dry bones in our lives, so to speak, and ask the same question Ezekiel asked, “Can these bones live?” we can answer with confidence, “Yes!” The Spirit of God is in the process of making all things new.

But we need to actively, intentionally, expectantly look for the new things God is doing in and around us. Training our eyes and ears and hearts and minds to look for God’s goodness brings hope.

So grab a cup of coffee, your Bible, and get ready to embrace the new and join me on the pages of God’s Word.

#63 Sacred Surrender Part 4: Blessings That Follow Surrender

#63 Sacred Surrender Part 4: Blessings That Follow Surrender

During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we are finishing our four-part series on surrender, an essential, yet not always easy, part of the Christian life.

Did you know there are different levels of surrender, all of which affect our relationship with God? Initial surrender to Christ leads to salvation. But there are times of greater surrender during our lives that bring deeper intimacy with God and greater effectiveness in service. The more areas of our lives we surrender to Him, the more room there is for the filling of the Holy Spirit.

In this episode we discuss the blessings that come with surrender. We lay everything down in surrender as an act of faith, but God doesn’t leave us in that place. We lay everything down to gain infinitely more. He blesses us beyond our wildest imaginations.

So grab a cup of coffee, your Bible, and get ready for the wonder of the blessings of surrender and join me on the pages of God’s Word.
