Stranger by the Lake (2013)

Horror Queers

We're wrapping up Erotic Thriller month with the gayest text of all: French writer/director Alain Guiraudie's Stranger by the Lake (2013).

This is one of Joe's favorite queer horror texts because it covers so many topics: cruising, sex and death, voyeurism, body image, gay microcosms, STIs, toxic relationship, homophobia, and gay friendships.

And that's before we tackle the unsimulated sex, discuss using condoms for blowjobs, debate the ambiguous ending(s), and cringe over pervy Eric.

Plus: finding Franck frustrating, moustache inspirations, naturalistic lighting and sound, and why Henri is our favorite character.
