Ep. 91 – How Coaches Can Ruin Kids
In this episode, we talk about how important it is for parents to know who is coaching their kids. We believe that coaches play a significantly important role in the mental and emotional development of kids. To be a great coach, they must be a good communicator and have a solid grasp on emotional intelligence. If the coach doesn't, the kids will suffer, potentially for the rest of their lives. We talk about our good and bad experiences with coaches in our lives and also what parents should look out for with the coaches who work with their kids.
Ep. 90 – Embracing the Suck
In this episode, we talk about how sometimes you are going to want to just embrace the suck or be crushed under its weight. At some point, we all face a situation that really sucks, makes us feel helpless, and in most cases, is usually totally beyond our control. We share some of our own personal experiences in the show. We also talk about how in that moment, whether it's an injury, a health issue, a death, an illness or something else, we do have control, and that's simply to embrace the suck of the situation, look for the opportunity in it, and endure it.
Ep. 89 – When Science is Used for Evil
In this episode, we talk about how science and research can be used and abused to mislead people for specific agendas. Science can be a very effect tool for helping to discover and prove critical findings and solve key issues. However, media far too often creates misleading headlines from science and blasts it out into the public to create fear, panic and drive desperate action. It's important not to fall for overly dramatic headlines, instead we suggest you approach information with a sense of skepticism.
Ep. 88 – The Cost of a Missed Opportunity
In this episode, Coach PK and Coach G talk about the cost that people pay from missed opportunities in their lives. We go into a number of different missed opportunities, including an injury, or the death of a loved one, but the biggest opportunity we get into is the current global health pandemic. It is becoming more clear that most people have missed out on the opportunity to really take charge of their health by making critical changes in their healthy behaviours such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, hydration, and more!
Ep. 87 – Nothing is Promised with Coach Randy Brookes
In this episode we chat with Coach Randy Brookes, former NCAA sprinter turned coach and owner of Running for Your Life. Randy's story is one of unfortunate commonality among aspiring young athletes who have a big dream, and all the talent in the world to back up that dream.
However, even with these great powerful forces on your side, you can easily be reminded that nothing is promised, and no matter what, luck plays a significant role in your success.
Randy Brookes openly shares his story of going from track star athlete glory to having to revamp his plan, adapt and shift his talents from the bright lights to the coach behind the scenes after a career ending injury.
