Syynth Sleuths: Who kidnapped the Beaumont Children?

Syynth Sleuths: Who kidnapped the Beaumont Children?

This week James and Sky discuss the hard problem of consciousness and investigate the tragic disappearance of the Beaumont children, one of Australia's oldest unsolved mysteries.
On the morning of January 26th, 1966, the Beaumont children asked their mother to visit Glenelg Beach. As it was too hot to walk, they took a five-minute bus ride from their home to the beach. Their mother became worried when the siblings did not return on either the 12:00 or 2:00 pm buses, and when their father returned home early from his trip around 3:00 pm, he immediately drove to the crowded beach. Unable to locate the children, he returned and together both parents searched the streets and visited friends' houses. Around 5:30 pm, they went to Glenelg police station to report the disappearance.
No bodies have ever been found.

Syynth Sleuths: Who was D.B. Cooper?

Syynth Sleuths: Who was D.B. Cooper?

This week James and Sky discuss the possibility that we're living in a simulation and then dive deep into the enigmatic mystery of D.B. Cooper.
    D. B. Cooper is a media epithet for an unidentified man who hijacked Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305, a Boeing 727 aircraft, in United States airspace on November 24, 1971. During the flight from Portland, Oregon, to Seattle, Washington, the hijacker told a flight attendant he was armed with a bomb, demanded $200,000 in ransom (equivalent to approximately $1,500,000 in 2024) and requested four parachutes upon landing in Seattle. After releasing the passengers in Seattle, the hijacker instructed the flight crew to refuel the aircraft and begin a second flight to Mexico City, with a refueling stop in Reno, Nevada. About 30 minutes after taking off from Seattle, the hijacker opened the aircraft's aft door, deployed the staircase, and parachuted into the night over southwestern Washington. The hijacker has never been found or conclusively identified.

Syynth Sleuths: Did the Sodder Children survive?

This week James and Sky discuss how A.I. might visualize time and then explore the sad story of the Sodder children.
On Christmas Eve, December 24, 1945, a fire destroyed the Sodder residence in Fayetteville, West Virginia, United States. At the time, it was occupied by George Sodder, his wife Jennie, and nine of their ten children. During the fire, George, Jennie, and four of the nine children escaped. The bodies of the other five children have never been found. The surviving Sodder family believed for the rest of their lives that the five missing children survived.
