In the early 1990s, as AIDS tightens its grip on major cities around the world, the relative safety of Montreal’s nightlife becomes a magnet for gay men. But when they start turning up dead in hotel rooms, beaten lifeless in city parks, and violently murdered in their own homes, the queer community has more to fear than the disease. While the city’s police force dithers over the presence of a serial killer, a group of queer activists starts making connections, and rises up to start a movement that would end up changing thousands of lives. As a gen z/ millennial cusp lesbian it’s wonderful to hear our history. Makes me very thankful for older 2SLGBTQIA+ folks who came before me and fought so I don’t have to go through what they went through.
Sex WORK is NOT the same as sex TRAFFICKING
This podcast does not advocate for sex trafficking, it advocates for sex work. These are extremely different. No one who is advocating for the decriminalization of sex work is advocating to make the sale and trade of human beings, ESPECIALLY against their wills, acceptable. In fact, I believe legalizing sex work is a path to reducing sex trafficking. The fact that sex work is illegal means that a greater proportion of clients are likely to have criminal histories and/or be violent. If you don’t know the difference between sec trafficking and sex work, please educate yourself before judging the views of this podcast.
