These 4 Hormones Make Weight Loss EASY The Dr. Westin Childs Podcast

    • Health & Fitness

Which is more important for weight loss: hormones or calories? I would say, for most people, its hormones. This is because the majority of people are already pretty good about keeping an eye on their calories. And if calories were the problem, they would already have lost their weight.

Both calories are hormones are important for regulating your weight but I’ve found that hormones become more important as you have more weight to lose.

And calories become more important the closer you are to your ideal body weight.

If you are someone who has more than 15-20 stubborn pounds to lose that aren’t being managed by calories, then it may be time to check out these 4 hormones.

These hormones all have the ability to help you lose weight by targeting different functions in the body:

*note: these hormones should only be used if you are DEFICIENT or low in them. You wouldn’t want to take them for weight loss if your levels are normal.

1. Testosterone. Testosterone is important for both men and women and it works to help build muscle, enhance mood, and help with energy.

2. Progesterone. Progesterone is primarily important for women where it acts to antagonize the effects of estrogen. High levels of estrogen promote weight gain and progesterone counteracts this effect.

3. Thyroid hormone. Thyroid hormones, especially T2 and T3, are very important for regulating metabolism and can be used by both men and women.

4. DHEA. DHEA is a weak androgen but also provides additional functions in the body. It’s relatively easy to get and some studies show it may be beneficial for weight loss.
