    VWR15: Fairfax's Tanner Sewell joins the show to talk about See You in the Square showcase vs. Robinson

    The Virginia Wrestling Roundup welcomes Fairfax High School head wrestling coach Tanner Sewell to the show along with VAWA Executive Director Nathan Coburn and Bryan Hazard. We'll start with welcoming Sewell to the show and get a rundown of his background as we head into the See You In The Square showcase outdoor dual with his Fairfax squad against Hazard's Robinson Rams. We'll also get an update on Rick Jones and his cancer treatment before again questioning the VHSL and its state tournament issues. We're not going to Scope apparently.     VWR13: Meet new VAWA Executive Director Nathan Coburn

    It's been a while since we last surfaced, but the second season of the Virginia Wrestling Roundup will charge on as Episode 13 and meet the new VAWA Executive Director Nathan Coburn. Coburn wrestled for Roy Hill at Hayfield and spent many a weekend driving around the state and the country in Coach Hill's now retired van. Coburn took time away from wrestling when he enrolled at Old Dominion, but found his way back on the mats, walking on to the team for his final two years of college. What does Coburn have planned for the future of VAWA and what's it mean for him to now work along side the coaches who mentored him coming through his years as an athlete?     Episode 12 of the Virginia Wrestling Roundup recaps the recent inductions from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Virginia Chapter. We talk about Jim Neese, David Hooper, Colon and Anna Baker, Doug Roper, Dr. Steve Wilcox, Chris Giles and Bill Swink. Swink joins the show along with Bryan Hazard as we also talk about the open Executive Director position within VAWA. What will the position entail? Should you apply? We also move into discussion about Swink's retirement from coaching at Colonial Forge, opening the door for Ian Squires to take over. Bryan and host Jason Bryant recap their experience announcing the NCAA Division I Championships and then we move into some discussion about the recent announcement of the VHSL moving the 6A-5A-4A state tournament to the Norfolk Scope next year.     VWR11: World Champion Bill Zadick previews March 12 clinic; VAWA announces senior scholarship

    On Episode 11 of the Virginia Wrestling Roundup, Virginia Amateur Wrestling's Andrew Farrar, Bill Swink and Bryan Hazard are joined by NCAA and World champion Bill Zadick. Bill and his brother Mike, an assistant coach at Virginia Tech, will be doing a folkstyle to freestyle clinic at St. Christopher's in Richmond on March 12. Bill was an NCAA champion for Iowa and a 2006 World Champion and is currently a coach for the U.S. Freestyle National Team in Colorado Springs. Farrar also talks about the VAWA's new scholarship fund, open to any graduating senior who has competed for VAWA at any time. Deadline for applications is March 3.     VWR10: Attorney Kevin Martingayle, Roy Hill, Matt Keel and Andrew Farrar discuss a bill that could impact the VHSL

    The Virginia High School League is again under fire, this time coming from a Virginia Beach attorney who is seeking to make the voting procedure comparable to member schools. Attorney Kevin Martingayle is the father of several athletes, including wrestlers, and he's trying to get the word out about HB965, a bill that would force the VHSL to be more transparent and be subject to the Freedom of Information Act. On Episode 10 of the Virginia Wrestling Roundup, we'll talk with Martingayle, Hayfield head coach Roy Hill, Skyline head coach Matt Keel and VAWA Executive Director Andrew Farrar. We'll talk about how the bill could potentially impact sports in Virginia, especially wrestling and we'll give the listeners information on what they can do to get their local representative to support HB965.     VWR08: Olympic champion Kendall Cross and George Mason assistant Izzy Silva talk World Championships with the VAWA staff

    Episode 8 of the Virginia Wrestling Roundup podcast features Olympic champion Kendall Cross, who will come to Virginia for a clinic at Episcopal on October 23 as well as a clinic at American University in D.C. George Mason University assistant Izzy Silva also was part of the World Championship coaching staff for Team USA in women's freestyle. Silva is also a newly-inked coach for VAWA. He'll break down his thoughts and experiences in Las Vegas.
