In episode ten, the first season FINALE of Film Music Friday, I discuss what happens to film music beyond the film, and the power that lies in listening! Through touching on some of my favourite pieces and some personal anecdotes, I delve into the exciting possibilities that await us when we listen to film music in our day-to-day lives.

The ninth episode of Film Music Friday brings another Anatomy of a Score, this time on Alexandre Desplat's Oscar-winning score to Wes Anderson's masterpiece, The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). In the longest episode of Film Music Friday yet, I take an in-depth look at Desplat's beautiful Eastern European-inspired music. In episode eight of Film Music Friday, we hear from my friend Eli, a filmmaker studying at the University of Toronto. We chat about some film scores, film music as a concept, and listen to some of our work including music from Eli's 2018 short film "A Deaf Man's Symphony" and his upcoming short film "I'm Still Here." Episode seven brings another Anatomy of a Score, and this time it's for Tom Ford's 2009 debut film "A Single Man" based on the novel by Christopher Isherwood. For twenty minutes I take you through this intimate movie through the rich musical score composed by Abel Korzeniowski, with additional music by Shigeru Umebayashi.
