    Why Filler and Not Cannulas

    Why Filler and Not Cannulas

Two questions I’m asked on a regular basis are which fillers I use and why I don’t use cannulas.
When cannulas were first introduced, they were marketed as being safer to use for injecting filler and decreasing bruising downtime. In this episode, I’m explaining exactly why I feel the opposite of that is true.
Also in this episode, we discuss a brief history of fillers, why I use the type of filler I do, how we guide patients on what is best for them when they come in thinking they already know what they need thanks to a basic internet search, what you need to know and consider before taking on patients who come to you because they’re unhappy with the injection they’ve received at another practice and they want you to fix it, and more!

    Managing Body Dysmorphia

    Managing Body Dysmorphia

Body Dysmorphia is a very real, and often overlooked disorder that all cosmetic practitioners need to be aware of. It’s not incredibly common, but it does exist and it’s something should know how to recognize.
That’s why, in this episode, we’re breaking down the warning signs of body dysmorphia, discussing a questionnaire that can help you asses a potential patient for body dysmorphia, explaining how the CCAPP method we created in our practice can also help you recognize body dysmorphia in your patients, and why having body dysmorphia doesn’t necessarily mean to have to turn the patient away.

How to Start or Continue a Cosmetic Practice

How to Start or Continue a Cosmetic Practice

I frequently get asked how to start a cosmetic practice by all kinds of practitioners.
Most of them have difficulty deciding which procedures to start offering first or figuring out how they can incorporate cosmetic procedures in their already existing non-cosmetic practice.
I honestly could write an entire book about these topics, but I’ll spare you.
Instead, I’m going to cover the main points of what you need to consider when deciding whether you want to begin offering cosmetic procedures; either in a brand new cosmetic practice, or in your already existing practice.
In this episode, I’ll explain what my top down/bottom up method is and how you can use it to determine which service(s) to begin offering first, why your support staff needs to be trained on the new services you’ll be offering and be able to provide concierge-level services, the importance of receiving training for the new procedures regardless of whether or not you have previous cosmetic experience, how you need to change the way you look at your daily schedule and your overall appointments, why you shouldn’t hand-off a procedure to someone else in your practice if you don’t know how to do it yourself, and so much more!

The Lifetime Value of a Customer

The Lifetime Value of a Customer

We do everything in our practice with the patient in mind.
It’s our goal to make each patient feel as if they’re our only patient.
We go out of our way to make their experience is a positive one they’ll never forget.
Some of the things we do may seem like common sense, but it’s amazing to see often they aren’t being implemented in other practices.
We want every patient to be a patient for life and, if that’s your goal as well, take a listen to this episode to hear exactly what we do to ensure our patients keep coming back.
In this episode, we’re explaining the importance of developing a comprehensive treatment plan from the very beginning, why you need to have a willingness to refer your patients out for services you don’t perform, the value of providing VIP experiences to your patients, how pre and post-procedure treatment is equally as important as the procedure itself, the number one thing we do to keep our patients coming back, and so much more!

The Importance of Medical Grade Skincare

The Importance of Medical Grade Skincare

This week, we’re talking about a topic that not enough people pay attention to, but that has a huge impact on looking young and having great skin: medical-grade skincare.
One of our main responsibilities as medical practitioners is to evaluate the whole patient and remember there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to skincare.
When we take a step back and do that, we can build better trust and a deeper relationship with our patients and be able to recommend better solutions to achieve their goals.
In this episode, we talk about what qualifies as medical-grade skincare, the truth about over-the-counter skincare products, why skincare has to be a 50/50 process, how to approach patients who don’t want to switch from their over-the-counter products, common excuses for why patients skip their at-home skincare routine, the importance of educating your patients on medical-grade skincare, why pre-care and post-care are so critical, and so much more!

    Myths of BOTOX®

    Myths of BOTOX®

This week, we're talking about a topic that comes up in the practice literally every single day ... BOTOX®. There are a lot of misconceptions around BOTOX® due to the fact that practitioners aren’t taking the time to properly educate their patients about it and we want to help change that.
In this episode, we cover whether or not BOTOX® truly “paralyzes” the face and why you should never use that word, the importance of being conservative when it comes to BOTOX®, why BOTOX® can’t be used to give volume to lips, the three reasons BOTOX® is safe to use, what happens to the skin if BOTOX® treatment is stopped, the typical length of effectiveness for a BOTOX® treatment, the main mistake patients new to BOTOX® make in the beginning, whether or not BOTOX® injections are painful for most patients, how to prevent bruising at the injection sites, the ideal time to begin BOTOX® treatment, and more!
