Law and Life LIVE: S1, E23 - Florida's Family Law Financial Affidavit.  

Welcome to Law and Life LIVE: S1, E23!  This week I am going to show you how to complete a Florida Family Law Financial Affidavit.  Most family law cases seeking financial relief, alimony, child support, and the like, require the filing of a Florida Family Law Financial Affidavit.  This includes temporary as well as permanent financial relief.    

In Florida, there are two types of Family Law Financial Affidavits.  The long-form Family Law  Financial Affidavit is for those people who make a gross income of over $50,000.00 per year.  If one makes less than $50,000.00 per year, a short-form Family Law Financial Affidavit is proper.  Both Family Law Financial Affidavits can be found here: https://www.flcourts.org/Resources-Services/Court-Improvement/Family-Courts/Family-Law-Self-Help-Information/Family-Law-Forms  

For some reason, people have a difficult time completing their Florida Family Law  Financial Affidavit.  I get a lot of questions on how to complete the Florida Family Law Financial Affidavit.  I hope this video helps you in your efforts to complete your Florida Family Law Financial Affidavit.

These are unprecedented times for sure.  In a society that preaches violence is never the answer, we are seeing violence in the streets every time we turn on the television.  Recent events have caused us new concerns, or maybe amplified concerns we already had.    

The news videos of people unknowingly finding themselves in a violent encounter have certainly increased in the last few weeks.  I have received a lot of questions about self-defense, countermeasures, and responses.

Law and Life Live: S1, E18- Marital Assets, Cars, and Houses

I regularly get questions about marital assets and liabilities, who owns what, can I be kicked out of my house, and the like from clients in newly filed divorce cases.    

Here are the answers to those questions and more.  Financial inequality plays a big role in pre-filing posturing.   Do be bullied into thinking you are entitled to less than the law provides for.  A lot of jurisdictions, like Miami-Dade County, have Status Quo Orders in please to maintain assets and liabilities.    

Remember, you don't know what you don't know.  Educate yourself and most of all consult with a lawyer.
