Welcome to The Kori Leigh Show. I am your host, Kori.
I am a recovering alcoholic, mom, a former boss babe, while still being a business owner learning to submit to God and my husband - kind of woman. I’ve spent a lifetime dealing with mental health issues, addiction, a hardened heart and nervous system that was on perpetual overdrive from my dark and twisted past, trusting nobody. I entered into a couple decades of chaos and self-destruction after hitting rock bottom a few times and ultimately admitting defeat in December of 2016.

I believe wholeheartedly that my moment of absolute desperation was the moment that saved my life, and it was here that I found God, and I am now on a perpetual journey of learning to heal, soften, and deepen my faith. I have found incredible strength and hope in being surrounded by other addicts in recovery, who share a common solution and are dedicated to living a life of serenity, service and sobriety. And I believe that sharing stories of experience, strength and hope have the power to open our hearts, transcend our doubts, and offer us the right amount of light, no matter how dark it’s gotten for us to make it through.

God meets us in our mess and saves us because our mess is our service to the world. I know what it feels like to be lost. I know plaguing anxiety, dark depression, and an obsession to escape that has caused me to do unthinkable things to myself. I know hopelessness, I know faithlessness, I know paralyzing loneliness. But I also know recovery. I know hope. I know what it’s like to hit bottom, to surrender my will to a power greater than myself. I am to commit to living life according to spiritual principles that at first I did not trust, but that I have come now to totally transform my entire existence. What was once fake faith has turned into real faith and a life beyond what I could have ever imagined for myself. I am so glad you found this podcast. Though we may not always share the same stories, we often share the same feelings. And as a woman who was saved by God and fellowship, it is my greatest honor to be of service by bringing you stories from men and women who have felt the darkness, who hit rock bottom, and who have come to know faith and hope and serenity in a way that they never dreamt possible.

As we say in recovery, find the similarities and not the differences - together we heal.

    3. From Wheelchair to Weights… Her Story of Redemption & Recovery After Being Hit by a (Literal) Truck with Jodi Evans, Personal Trainer

In this episode of The Kori Leigh Show, I am bringing on my first guest Jodi Evans who has an incredible redemption story of rock bottom to how God has worked in her life. Jodi is a personal trainer that helps moms use faith to fuel their fitness journey. We talk about the life-altering accidents that left her in a wheelchair, leaning on pain management, and battle with addiction.

She shares the role of faith in her recovery and how she found purpose through art, crafts, and projects that led her to becoming a personal trainer. Jodi candidly shares her struggles with the legal system, addiction, and pain management, and how a choice between jail and rehab became a turning point. Her story brought me to tears, because of her resilience and transformation, culminating in her work as a fitness coach and author of a devotional cookbook, to now sharing her testimony to inspire others.

    2. Prayer - Finding God's Will in the Mundane

    2. Prayer - Finding God's Will in the Mundane

"Over the years of practicing life this way, I have been amazed to see that God does in fact know better for me what I need and what my purpose is than I could ever know." - Kori Leigh

In this episode of The Kori Leigh Show, I talk about how I found God through prayer and came to realize that God's will often reveals itself in the simple, everyday tasks we all do. I look back on how I used to focus on self-centered prayers and how I've transformed to praying for God's will and dedicating myself to serving others.

I want this episode to encourage you all to live a purpose-driven life, to let go of the need to understand every complexity of life, and to trust in God's plan for us.

    1. Your Mess in Your Message - Sharing My Story of God Meeting Me in My Darkest Moments

    1. Your Mess in Your Message - Sharing My Story of God Meeting Me in My Darkest Moments

"When we do our work to heal and to surrender to God's will, God then uses our past to help somebody else."

In this episode of The Kori Leigh Show, I am starting off sharing my story of the tough parts of growing personally, going through recovery, and how sometimes it's those really dark times that bring us the most important messages about ourselves. I don't hold back when it comes to my struggles with trust and getting close to people, all because of some rough stuff that happened in my childhood. Those experiences really molded how I see God. I'm a big believer in the idea that we should all have the freedom to explore and redefine what faith means to us. I want to get across that your faith isn't something static, but God is; it's this deeply personal journey that keeps changing and growing, just like we do.

Overall, I wanted to share that God came to me in my darkest moment, not because I prayed for help, actually I wanted nothing to do with God, but because there was a moment where He could access me, and He did. He will meet you where you are at too.
