    Hey hey hey IMPORTANT have you guys heard of the CASPER exam?? It was pretty new when Mike, Semler and DeJong applied so we haven’t really talked about it. WELL today we are in luck cause we talked to a new medical student at Loyola, Emily! She is an M1 here at school and she has done research in medical ethics...which...is what the CASPER exam is about!! So come listen to her explanation of what those question are trying to get after. She also gives some really good tips on prepping for the secondaries and an option for those of you that don’t have Pre-Med Advisors!! So come get those pearls!! Last thing, remember the CASPER is still on the newer side so please do your homework and research these things! If you have questions let us know.

    In this episode the guys interview another classmate Maria! Maria went to college for biomedical engineering, but during her time working she found herself being drawn more to the clinical side. So she decided to do some exploration into the field. She has background in woman’s health, biomedical engineering and social justice projects. It wasn’t till she realized how much creativity there was in medicine that she really decided to go for it. She has some great insight into how one can make a career pivot with a different degree toward medicine. While it might seem frightening to jump into the water and get going she can show you a good approach to pulling it off!!

Much like our last guest he made a great use of time during his gap years and has a special message for all of you. BE OPEN TO THE GAP YEAR! We get it everyone wants to go to medical school right out of undergrad, but sometimes that isn’t realistic. So be open to that time you get and let it tell you where to go and what to do!

    In this episode the guys interview another one of their friends at Stritch Christina! Christina was originally planning on being a teacher and possibly even a principal! Eventually she decided that medicine was actually her path and started down that journey. She didn’t have a science background so she went and got a Post Bac to get all her science requirements done. When we started talking about how to prep for medical school she brought up a great topic of building your own personal brand to let your experiences tell your story of who you are and where your going. The experiences should say something about who you are. So you should 100% come listen to her advice. Especially if you are a few years out an think you can not go back. Christina is PROOF THAT YOU CAN!
