    How COVID is affecting our personal finances? Monika Halan Consulting Editor with Mint

    A well-known media personality, Monika Halan is a Consulting Editor with Mint and Adjunct Professor at the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs. She is a regular speaker on financial literacy, regulation, inclusion and consumer issues in retail finance. She has a Master’s in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and a second Master’s in Journalism Studies from College of Cardiff, University of Wales, UK. She has worked across various media organisations in India, has run four successful TV series around personal finance in NDTV, Zee and Bloomberg India.    Monika also has public policy experience working with the Government of India as an advisor (Swarup Committee) in 2009, was also a member on the Ministry of Finance Committee on Incentives (Bose Committee), has been a member on the Sebi Mutual Fund Committee since 2010. She was a member of the Task Force set up by the Government of India to put in place the Financial Redressal Agency.  She is an author of the best-selling book Let’s talk Money published by Harper Collins in July 2018. Her first book Seven Steps to Financial Freedom was published by Macmillan in 2005. She is based in New Delhi and was chosen as a Yale World Fellow in 2011.  Ecoholics is a platform for Economics run by Former Asst.     Presently employed as faculty (from 1992) at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Work involves teaching, research and consultancy. (Also as the Chairperson of the Doctoral (Fellow) programme for over three years, and the first Chairperson of the Post Graduate Programme in Public Management and Policy,  and  also first Chairperson of the Centre for Infrastructure Policy and Regulation. Have also been the Chairperson of Executive Education. Was Co-Chair of the Harvard Kennedy School, Phase V IAS Training Programme for Senior Civil Servants (2006-2010). Chaired the Committee on Future Directions for the IIMA. Involved in teaching, research, executive education, and consultancy.  Was Visiting ICCR Chair-Professor at the Copenhagen Business School, at the Asia Research Centre, School of International Business, 2013.  Was Visiting Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA from August 25, 1993 to August 31, 1994, as recipient of Ford Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship.  Has been visiting faculty at ESSEC, Paris.  Employed at the Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad, in the Economics Group, from June to August 31, 1994 as Associate Professor, and earlier as Assistant Professor from April 1986. Work involved research, teaching, training, and consultancy.  Was senior staff writer and correspondent for Business India (magazine) from September 1982 to November 1983. Work involved editing, reporting, as well as writing feature articles.
