Episode 172: NIL Money in College Athletics - Is Everything Adding Up?

Episode 172: NIL Money in College Athletics - Is Everything Adding Up?

As we enter a new phase of NIL money in college sports, and athletes receiving more and more share of the revenue, we wanted to ask an important question:

Is all of this going to add up?

In other words, will college athletic departments be able to make the necessary budgetary adjustments to make it all work? And, what will be the effect on coaches and their programs?

In this episode, we talk to Katie Davis, a CPA with James Moore, an accounting firm specializing in advising college athletic departments and campuses on their financial strategies related to NIL, readiness assessments, and other consulting related to financial stability within a department.

Katie talks about where we are now, and what's likely to be facing athletic departments in the future.

Episode 171: How the NIL Marketplace Continues to Creatively Evolve

Episode 171: How the NIL Marketplace Continues to Creatively Evolve

It's vital that college coaches at all levels continue to understand how the Name/Image/Likeness landscape is changing on an ongoing basis.

Today's show is an example of that evolution and change.

Mike Ross is the founder of ConNEXTions, a non-profit that helps high level athletes maneuver the in's and out's of NIL in college, as well as maximizing their earning abilities while they are still in high school. He's a businessman that sees a need outside of the traditional NIL collectives that emerged immediately after the landmark shift in college athletics, and is using his business experience to build another platform to offer athletes.

Is this one of the future emerging paths for athletes? And, what does it mean for college coaching, college athletics, and the athletes going through the process? Those the questions we're exploring in this episode.
